Answer (1 of 10): I have never smoked. Never will. I started vaping, well, I really don’t know why. My friends were all doing it, perhaps. Peer pressure got me. Vapor, while not empirically tested as cigarettes have been, has one major advantage over combustion cigarettes right out of the gate ...

If they're vaping 0mg liquids I suppose that's fine but if they're not I think that's pretty immature. That's my opinion, of course.

I'm not too sure why one would ever want to "Start Vaping" if they haven't a reason to start in the first place. I can see long term ex-smokers using this to diffuse a craving in a social setting (especially around friends that still smoke analogs).

cause they want to be cool or put substances in it that dont belong there. I frequently go to my local brick and mortar vape on 2, but some of the people walking in there tick me off

I dont know, I look at it as the same way as people who hookah. Not every hookah user is a PAD smoker, or a cig smoker at all. When I use my hookah, it isn't for the nic fix it's for the flavor... the same as when I smoked cigs.

You are all defending someone who is attacking would be fellow vapers in the newcomer room. I don't care why they start. There is nothing wrong with nicotine or caffeine when used in moderation, as with drinking or any other adult activity. So the FDA should not even care about who "starts" ether, aside from age appropriation.

Your post is exactly why I picked up my first ecig about 5 days ago. I was so close to buying a pack of smokes and throwing my 2 year quit right down the drain. I think for me this will be a life long struggle and I have decided if vaping keeps me from going back to analogs I will do it for life.

For those that care about the appearance of their teeth, this is a solid reason to switch from smoker to vaper. Smoking, as many already know, does stain teeth. There's no question about it. Years of smoking can and will leave your teeth discolored. Now, if you thought yellow teeth were bad, try brown because that's just what smoking will do to them.

Is tar bad for you?

Inhaling smoke and lining your lungs with tar is never a good thing. Fortunately for vapers, there is no tar in vapor. With smoking, there most definitely is tar. Does smoking make your fingers smell?

Smoking can stain your fingertips, leaving them yellowish in appearance. Many smokers know this because they can see it. Not only can it leave your fingertips yellow, but it can also turn them brown. Gross, right? If that's not gross enough for you, it's worth noting that it can also make your fingers and hands smell terrible. Vapers don't have to worry about any of this because vaping does not leave the fingers or hands of vapers yellow or brown. Vaping also doesn't leave vapers with smelly hands.

Does vaping leave a smell?

To say that vaping doesn't smell would be incorrect, however, unlike smoking, vaping doesn't leave behind a smell that lingers for extended periods of time. The odor leftover from vaping dissipates much more quickly than that of smoking's odor and in the case of vehicles, it doesn't leave behind a nasty smell in the interior that's nearly impossible to eradicate. If you've ever purchased a used car that was previously owned by a smoker who smoked inside of it, you may still notice the smell that the smoking has left behind. In the case of cars owned by vapers, this simply is not the case as they continue to smell fresh even after extensively vaped in.

If you try nicotine and feel dizzy or light-headed, LAY OFF IMMEDIATELY, or you'll be facedown in the toilet quite soon.

Is vaping bad for you?

Well... to be totally honest, we don't know exactly the long term effects of vaping. We do know, they are much less harmful than smoking. 95% to 99% less harmful, but even PG, VG and flavoring will have some effect. If you do try vaping, stick to 0mg nicotine. You aren't addicted to it now from cigarettes, no need to start using it.#N#Since it isn't addictive without the nicotine, if you want to try, you have that freedom to do so, and there will be lots of help here if you need it. (and you will)#N#So to start off.. NEVER CHEAP OUT ON YOUR BATTERIES! Use only high drain Sony, Samsung or LG. Samsung 25r is a decent battery to start with.#N#2nd start with a regulated PVD (personal vaping device *also called a mod*) Regulated is software controlled and is much more forgiving than a mechanical mod (basically, a flashlight with a heating coil instead of a bulb, but with a much more powerful battery) There are 2 types of mechanical mods. Hybrid and non-hybrid. The non-hybrid have a floating 510 positive pin so are much safer than the hybrid, where the positive pole of the tank sits directly on the battery. I will not use a hybrid.#N#However, start with a regulated mod. They are safer. Not 100% safe (rarely the chips fail), but that is why we say don't cheap out on the batteries.#N#Of course, the best advice is not to start vaping if you don't smoke. But should you choose to, do it safely. Ask questions in here before trying stuff as you learn. An example is I once saw someone say they wanted to use copper wire. This is a hard NO! Mainly, because the resistance of copper is far below a safe level, and 2ndly, heating copper creates copper oxides, which are not healthy. Just as an example mind you. (but don't try it.)#N#Basically, like everyone else, I recommend not starting vaping if you never smoked and aren't trying to quit. But if you do choose to start for your own reasons, we'll help you when you need it.

Can you vape if you have never smoked?

I think what everyone is giving is very good advice. If you have never smoked, please don't take up an alternative to smoking.#N#I can understand it seeming interesting, but it is only a safer way for people who have smoked to get their fix. Depending on which area of vaping interests you, you could still look into something to learn, that will be of a better benefit to vaping.#N#Say for instance, the way mods work interests you. You could learn about electronics and possibly get onto a course, and then depending how far you wanted to go either make electronic projects as a hobby, or even for work.#N#Just don't smoke or vape, please. If the flavours interest you, most are based on things that already exist. If you like the sound of apple pie, have an apple pie! .
