I was wondering what does vodka actually do when you mix it with your ejuice? Does it give you additional throat hit? How much vodka for a 10ml bottle mixture? And lastly what gives you that throat hit? Is it purely from your nicotine liquid or any certain flavor? TIA

Fernand Super Member ECF Veteran

Nicotine gives throat hit. Flavorings try to fake it. Vodka doesn't do anything good above a few drops per 10ml.

Thanks so much for the input. I truly thought vodka added to the TH. So the lesser the nicotine content the less the TH. No other ingredient can substitute for the TH? I want to cut down on my nic consumption but when I try low nic juices I could never get satisfied.

Some people like to use vodka or PGA (pure grain alcohol) as an alternative to distilled water to dilute thicker juices for better wicking. I'm PG-sensitive, so I only vape 100% VG liquids, which are much thicker than PG-based liquids and tend to clog up your atty or carto real fast. A couple drops of everclear really helps thin the juices for me.

E juice that gets you drunk

As far as my knowledge goes there is no e juice that gets you drunk. E juice however sometimes contains small amounts of alcohol and this is used as a thinning agent. There will certainly not be enough in the e liquid to get you drunk.

Vaportini sent a couple our way, so we decided to give them a try. However, it's important to note that "vaping" alcohol can be dangerous and should only be done in very small amounts

Dr. Kathryn Boiling at Mercy Medical Center in Maryland explained that the vapor isn't passed through the liver before it circulates throughout your body: "When alcohol is inhaled there is no first-pass metabolism so the full power of the drug, in this case alcohol, reaches the brain."

The taste? Kind of like breathing in Hint water, except with alcohol

If that's not descriptive enough, imagine walking through a fog and inhaling its cold mist. The mist lightly coats your tongue with, depending on the spirit, a very subtle whiskey flavor, without the aggressive burning sensation of alcohol.

Ellen surprised us all when she claimed that she loved it

"I LOVE THIS. I WOULD DO THIS EVERY DAMN MORNING. I LOVE THIS. IT TASTES SO GOOD."

Alex thought it was so good, he took a second sip

Direct quote: "Wooooooooo... This is great, I gotta go one more time."

So, the big question... Did we feel a buzz?

Jeff vaped the most out of all of us — he estimates about 25 sips — and he reports: "Yes, I felt buzzed, but it was a different kind of buzz. It was more of a light-headed buzz than a-few-drinks-in buzz. It lasted for like maybe 30ish minutes and then it went away."

The Risks Of Breathing In Booze

As with most things involving smoking and/or alcohol, the practice comes with its own dangers. For one thing, inhaling alcohol can be even more dangerous than simply drinking it because it goes directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the stomach and liver. This makes it much easier to overdose on alcohol than if you were drinking it.

Which Vape juice ingredients to avoid

So we have established that the base ingredients in your e-liquid are generally safe to inhale and consume. So what’s the dangerous stuff? Well, the answer lies in certain chemicals that can be found in the e-juice flavor.

Vaping Vs Smoking

This brings us back to the popular question: Are you really better of vaping than smoking? The studies that have been conducted on this topic so far, especially in terms of ingredients, say YES!

Vodka can be made practically anywhere, but it was born in Eastern Europe

It’s disputed whether vodka was first produced in Russia or Poland—there’s talk of vodka being produced in Russia in the 9 th Century, and in Poland in the 8 th Century, but these were both likely crude precursors. The first written record in Poland was in the Sandomierz Court Registry in 1405, while Russia didn’t get “vodka” to paper until 1751.

Vodka was used medicinally. And it still can be

Like many alcoholic beverages—and like distilling itself—vodka has some claim to medical applications (it was sold as a possible cure for anything from infertility to the plague; that’s a wonder drug).

The top-selling vodka brand in the world was started by a Russian peasant

Specifically, Pyotr Smirnov (recognize the name?). Born a serf—meaning an agricultural laborer stuck in the feudal system—Smirnov is the definition of self-made, taking advantage of every lurch forward in the Russian economy to found and expand his vodka—which he named after the French, not the Russian, spelling of his name.

Smirnov was a trailblazing, ingenious guerilla marketer

Imagine you’re recently freed from the feudal system, you’re producing your own vodka, and you want to get the word out. Oh, and there’s no such thing as a Bluetooth-ed marketing team at the ready.

You can use vodka to make aftershave

Though you won’t want to just use straight vodka—things like bay leaves, spices, rum, and, in at least one recipe, Absinthe, can add complexity of fragrance. (Note: once you’ve made the aftershave, do not attempt to drink it. Obviously.)

Drinking vodka cold serves a purpose

We store vodka in the freezer, but it’s not an accident or just because the counter is cluttered with craft bourbons. Vodka has a lot of heat to it—distilled to a minimum 40% ABV, but often higher—but when taken cold, that heat is tamed (as are any flavors), and a bit more of the viscosity and richness of the spirit comes out.

Russian toasting etiquette is intricate and confusing

When you drink vodka in Russia, you don’t just drink vodka. You toast. Then you drink. Then you toast, then you drink again. And the toasts are supposed to come in a very specific order.

1. No Filter

Take Belvedere Unfiltered, billed as a luxury vodka distilled four times and not filtered. With a toasted bread scent, the spirit is rich in taste and is smooth but not necessary creamy.

2. Micron Paper

Then there’s Square One Organic vodka, made with rye and filtered without the use of chemicals or charcoals, utilizing a micron paper filter, adhering to the company’s mission of sustainability.

3. Quartz Crystals

Some brands elect for fancier method. After being distilled four times, Crystal Head vodka is filtered three times through quartz crystals known as Herkimer diamonds, named such for their resemblances to the faceted stone. (With vodka makers utilizing precious metals like gold for filtering in Russia, is filtering through diamonds next?)

4. Lava Rock Beds

Reyka vodka is made with glacial water from Iceland that’s filtered through lava rock beds (from Icelandic volcanoes). The porous lava rocks act as a sponge or a filter, and the impurities stay in the rock, leaving a cleaner liquid behind.

5. Coconut Carbon

When Chris Seithel, one of the founders of Loaded vodka, wanted to create a vodka suitable for sipping, he felt he had to do use something different than charcoal. “Vodka is about refining, refining, refining,” he says. His small-batch spirit starts with clean water that’s flowed through a coconut carbon filter, made from coconut husk.

6. Post-Filtration Step

While many popular brands opt for carbon filtration, some opt for different pumping techniques, like Effen, or a post-filtration step, like elit by Stolichnaya.
