So, I love my REO Grand + RM2. It's the only mod I use after trying very many. My problem is this..I use 30 or 28awg wire and cotton wicks. When I build a new coil and change out the wick I have a very nice vape for about a day, but then the coil starts to blacken and taste suffers.

are you dry burning the coil after you take out the old wick? That's all I can think of.

Ditto to what yaypudding and pufZeppelin said. I know with some juices I have to knock the carbon off after a good dryburn. Also, I wrap my coils with drill bits and running the drill bit through after dry burning helps clean the carbon out of the inside.

I've tried just replacing the wick and that helps but I still get a not as tasty vape from what I'm assuming can only be from the coil itself.
