There is no recommended wattage, just the one that works for you. Experience and experimentation is the way to find this. I'm assuming you are using a regulated device, in which case resistance is not important. Try using 34G or 36G for the wrap, and 26G for the core wire to reduce the overall mass of the coil.

How many Watts Does a 3mm Clapton need?
May 14, 2020 · This is a simple answer... install the coil (before wicking) Start with lower watts and pulse the coil (dry-burn) In low light, see how it glows (hopefully fairly evenly... no hot spots) This will give you a good idea of how many watts to vape at. So you pulse the coil at 15 watts... glows evenly but doesn't heat up really fast so maybe you could push it to 20 watts while …
What wattage is best for vaping?
Any core or coil below 1 ohm - for example 0.7, 0.5 or 0.25 ohms - is probably best used for high-power D2L vaping: over 20 watts, big air intake setting, D2L inhale (direct to lung) . This means to inhale by drawing the vapour direct into the lungs.
How many ohms should a vape Coil have?
I always start at 30 watts and ramp up 5 watts at a time until I find it perfect. 45 watts usually ends up being my sweet spot, but I know plenty of people who are shocked I don't like it at 65 watts or over. I enjoy dual fused claptons 6.5 to 7 wrap. 36k/X2 26k 3mm around .23-.25 ohm 60w-65w is my sweet spot.
Do sub ohm vape tanks need more than 80W?
I have a Zeus X V2 RTA tank with a Vaporesso Luxe S mod and I have put in a Alien Clapton coil which says and reads .45 ohms (single coil build) and I'm not familiar with ohm to wattage ratios, so I have no clue what wattage to vape on. I vape on Variable Wattage Soft mode and it shows 3.55 volts, if that is of any help. Vape at whatever works ...

There is no wattage range for any self built coil but starting somewhere low and working your way up will serve you, your build (which will not suddenly be assailed by overheating and burn, well your wick might have difficulties. What works is what works for you.

"Fused Clapton" implies more than on core wire (nothing wrong with that... many people love those for DL) but you might like to keep it really simple for MTL... simple round wire (or single core Clapton) You might be surprised how well a simple 26 ga round wire works for that.
How does variable wattage work?
The variable wattage device will then automatically adjust the power going through the atomiser (the voltage) to produce the power output you need (the wattage).
What does ohm mean in atomizers?
An ohm (Ω) is a unit of resistance. Essentially, the lower the resistance of your coil, the more electricity will flow through it. Increase the amount of resistance and less electricity will flow through. So when you use a lower resistance atomiser, and more electricity flows through, you will find the following:
What is the resistance of a sub ohm coil?
The term sub-ohm, while still used, is not as relevant as it used to be. Coils below 1 ohm are common, and coils with a resistance of 0.8 ohms are often used for Mouth-to-Lung vaping. Even lower resistance coils, such as 0.15 coils, are often used for cloud vaping.
What is the difference between variable voltage and variable wattage?
The difference between variable voltage and variable wattage is a bit like the difference between an automatic and a manual car. With a variable voltage device, you manually control the amount of power (voltage) going through your device.
What is a vape device?
Vape devices use simple circuits that contain a battery, a switch and a heating coil. The circuit is effectively a controlled short, with the power output from the battery used to create heat.
What is a milliampere hour?
A milliampere hour (mAh) is 1000th of an ampere hour (Ah). Both are used as a measure of battery capacity, a higher mAh rating means more capacity. mAh only measures capacity and should not be confused with power.
What is variable voltage?
With a variable voltage device, you manually control the amount of power (voltage) going through your device. The amount of energy that is actually output will depend on how the resistance of your atomiser interacts with that power flowing through it. A variable wattage device is different.
