What is a sub-ohm vape?

Much like smoking a cigarette. While the usual range for standard vaping is between 1.5 ohms and 3 ohms, using a vaporizer containing an atomizer coil with a resistance of less than 1 ohm is technically referred to as sub-ohm vaping. While it might sound somewhat simple, it’s actually a fairly complex topic.

What does not sub ohm do?

A 50/50 or PG e-liquid will not work for sub ohm vaping. VG juice is thicker and made for low resistance vape coils. In addition, the VG makes massive plumes of vapor. There is always at least some PG in a VG vape juice to carry the flavor.

Is Sub ohm vaping worse for you?

The 7 genes that were affected by both exposure conditions (0.15 Ω & 1.5 Ω) were dysregulated to a greater extent following exposure to e-cig aerosols produced under sub-ohm conditions (Fig. 3B). This suggests that sub-ohm vaping may be more detrimental to lung health than vaping under regular conditions.

Is Sub ohm better for flavour?

Pros of Sub-Ohm Vaping Secondly, more vapor also means more flavor. Although the wider airflow might diminish the flavor to some extent, unless you are doing direct lung hits, sub-ohm vaping usually increases the overall flavor. That is because you are inhaling a lot more vapor than when you are doing above-ohm vaping.

Is higher ohm better for vape?

Higher Ohm Coils The best way forward when looking to perfect your vape is to simply try different resistance levels and see how you get on. It really does depend entirely on personal preference and so there is no "best" or "worst" ohm level, it all depends on what you are looking for in your vape.

Why do ohms matter in vaping?

Resistance (Ohm, Ω) The lower the resistance of your atomizer, the larger the amount of current flowing through it. If you increase resistance, the atomizer receives less current.

What is the difference between a sub ohm and a regular vape?

This is the main difference between sub ohm vaping vs regular vaping. Sub-ohm vape mods produce bigger and thicker clouds as compared to regular mods. Because there is so much more vapor, the vape liquid used for sub ohm atomizers tends to have less nicotine than a standard e-cig.

How to use sub ohm vape?

Here are the key points to remember: 1 Sub ohm vaping uses atomizers with a resistance of less than 1.0 ohms. 2 Also called DL, or Direct Lung vaping. 3 Use regulated mods, mech mods are dangerous. 4 Use sub ohm vape tanks as opposed to building your own coils.

What is temperature control vape?

Temperature control vaping uses sub ohm atomizer coils. But instead of setting the wattage, the user instead selects a vaping temperature. Most modern sub-ohm vape mods come with a temperature control option. This is usually denoted as a TC mod.

Why is sub ohm vaping better?

Think of it in this way, the less resistance there is to something, the easier it is to overcome. In the case of sub ohm vaping, a lower resistance atomizer allows more current to pass through it. Increased current causes a metal element to heat faster. As a result, more e-liquid is more rapidly vaporized.

What is the most common sub ohm battery for a vape?

The most common sub-ohm box mod vape batteries are 18650s. There are also 20700, and 21700 but 18650s are the most commonly used.

What are sub ohm tanks made of?

Here are some devices that emit sub-ohming. Sub-Ohm Tanks: they are made of two materials: stainless steel and glass. Of course their coils are low resistance and are commercially produced and disposable. These tanks are meant for vapers who cannot build their coils but want to experience sub-Ohming.

Why does a sub ohm coil heat up faster?

This reduced resistance causes the atomizer coil to heat up faster, vaporize more liquid, produce more robust flavor and generate thicker clouds because of the increased current that passes through the coil.

What is the best nicotine level for sub ohming?

Nicotine levels are expressed in milligrams/millimeter (mg/ml).Levels around 12mg/ml or lower are ideal. An e-juice with the right PG/VG ratio and nicotine level enhances your sub-Ohming because it makes the vapor smooth and very thick without being too harsh.

What is sub ohm vaping?

Sub ohm vaping involves the use of a coil that has a resistance of less than an ohm. Just a few years ago, the lowest resistance you could find for standard cartomizers and clearomizers was 1.2 ohms. Back then, vaping below one ohm (or “sub-ohming”) was the province of advanced Vapers who wanted more power from their fixed-voltage devices. More power makes coils hotter and reduces the time it takes for them to get hot. These days, sub ohm vaping has become much more accessible and most major manufacturers are offering tanks and coils designed for vaping at low resistances. If you are interested in the difference between above ohm vs sub ohm, here are some important facts to keep in mind:

Is it safe to vape under 1 ohm?

Vaping below one ohm was once a controversial and divi sive issue in the vaping community due to safety concerns. Many were afraid of the potential for harm to Vapers using low-resistance coils on unregulated devices. There is the risk that under certain circumstances, batteries in these devices could fail and cause serious harm to the user. Fortunately, numerous regulated devices have come along in the last year or so that make sub-ohm vaping far safer. Still, it is a good idea to research Ohm’s law and to make sure that you are using a device (and battery) that can fire low-resistance coils safely. Do this before you attempt to sub-ohm.

You are vaping at something like 6.66 watts at the resistance and the voltage you quoted. The Pico will work with tanks using a normal coil at 1.8 ohms and low wattage. It goes down to 1W and up to 75W. It also works in wattage mode as well as temperature control mode. It will work with your 1.8 ohm coil.

I agree with @DaveP id take what's on top of the Zmax and put it on the Pico, set it the same way and run with it!

NealBJr Ultra Member ECF Veteran

So I just upgraded from my zmax v5 paired with Kanger aerotank mega bc my poor zmax has seen better days. It's bent and the screen is cracked. It still works, but I definitely needed to move forward. I bought the eleaf pico 75 with melo 3 mini mainly bc I was wanting something a lot smaller than my zmax and easy to hold for stealth vaping.

KenD Vaping Master ECF Veteran

I would third that advice. The melo tank is designed for high wattage. You could put your aerotank on your istick pico like others have stated. The trick is though, to find the wattage on the istick to get it to use 3.7 volts. It says to use 7.6 watts, so I would set it for 8 watts and find out. Make sure the aerotank reads 1.8 ohms on your device.

mcclintock Ultra Member ECF Veteran

Yeah the Melo 3 is ridiculous. Coil head the size of some whole tanks, DEEP subohm. Don't necessarily avoid 0.99 ohm just because of it. But I hated the mini Aerotank too.

I would go with the Prover which you can pick up from Pro vape site under specials for about $39 and a Aspire Nautilus Tank which does offer 1.8 and 1.6ohm Heads and cost is around $29. Both are reliable and durable. They both have also been staples in Vaping for quite a few years now.

Hitmetwice Ultra Member ECF Veteran

If the main trouble was breaking the glass on the Nautilus tanks, there are steel sleeves and tanks for them.

Why use sub ohm?

Because of its ability to heat the e-liquid more, you can achieve a fuller and intensified flavour. Once you have started to get the hang of sub-ohming, experimenting with new and exciting flavours will become your favourite past time! Sub-ohming allows you to personalise your vaping experience to the maximum and will enable you to taste the flavour of your e-liquids like never before. This is an advantage of a sub-ohm device that really doesn’t have any cons associated with it. A better flavoured e-liquid is always going to be a plus and lets you find your perfect vape. No matter what, you will love how a sub-ohm makes your e-liquid taste and this is something that is harder to achieve with other devices. That being said, any variable voltage/wattage device will allow you to experiment with your e-liquid flavour as the heat will adjust as you go up or down. However, they cannot be set as a high as a sub-ohm and therefore will have their limits.

Why do sub ohms make noise?

Just as we spoke about before, many of the competitions people take part in enjoy the sounds a sub-ohm makes as this is all part of the experience of sub-ohming. On the other hand, there are those who find it intimidating and become scared or nervous when using their device. Because the device can be heated up to such high temperatures, the heating element inside will heat the liquid far more than a basic vape pen therefore causing a bubbling, crackling or popping noise. This is easiest to understand when compared to a kettle. When you hold the button down to inhale, it resembles switching on your kettle and when the water in you kettle is boiling and makes the loud noises, this is what your sub-ohm device is doing to the e-liquid in order to create vapour. The noises a sub-ohm makes are necessary and unfortunately cannot be changed. Most people tend to adjust to it sooner or later and after a while, tend not to notice it as much. Sub-ohm devices are easy to adapt to as you should be familiar with a few noises from your basic vaping device. If this is your first purchase, remember that sub-ohming is not recommended for new vapers and so you should ensure that you fully understand all of the pros and cons beforehand. Devices will vary and certain ones will make louder noises than others, however, whether you don’t mind the noise is entirely up to you.

What is sub ohm vaping?

Sub-Ohm vaping is a much smoother draw, more comparable to Shishaa for example, which is only available in much lower nicotine strengths, such as 0mg, 3mg or 6mg, due to the amount of vapour or ‘cloud’ that one would receive. Sub-Ohm devices require a MAX VG e-liquid.

What is the difference between high VG and sub ohming?

3. Due to the density of the cloud, one can taste much more flavour of the e-liquid while Sub-Ohming, compared to classic vaping. 4.

Why is sub ohming so popular?

What is DL vaping?

The second style is "Sub Ohm" vaping or straight to lung/direct inhalation (DL), also known as ‘Cloud-Chasing’, which gives out much, much more vapour than classic vaping and a smoother throat hit. The user inhales the vapour directly into their lungs.

What is a glycerin tank?

Glycerin itself is a sweet-tasting and viscous liquid which helps to produce more vapour and holds more flavour. *Tank/Clearomizer/Atomizer - all of these are terms for the mouthpiece component for an e-cigarette or box mod devices. This is the part in which the coil sits, and where the e-liquid is filled.

How does vaping work?

This mimics the same way as smoking tobacco cigarettes - you draw the vapor into your mouth, then inhale into your lungs.

Which is better, a sub ohm or a cigarette pens?

4. Generally speaking, Sub-Ohm devices are better engineered than standard e-cigarette pens due to the fact they are more robust and have a solid structure. 5. More diversity with airflow, types of coils, wire, cotton, wattage etc, so much more input and creativity permitted for individuals. 6.
