vape why lock resistance?

by Oliver Huel Published 1 year ago Updated 1 year ago

Then as the coil heats up when you vape it compares the resistance of the coil in real time to the baseline reading to calculate the temperature of the coil and subsequently calculate the required power adjustment to maintain the set temperature. Resistance locking only applies to TC and it locks the baseline reading into place.

What does resistance do in a vape?

Resistance (Ohm, Ω) The lower the resistance of your atomizer, the larger the amount of current flowing through it. If you increase resistance, the atomizer receives less current.

What does resistance mean in vape pods?

The more resistance your coil has, the less electricity will flow through the atomizer when the same amount of power in volts is applied to the wire. The less your coil resists electricity, the more power flows through it, creating heat and, due to that heat, vapor.

Is it better to have higher ohms or lower vape?

Higher Ohm Coils The best way forward when looking to perfect your vape is to simply try different resistance levels and see how you get on. It really does depend entirely on personal preference and so there is no "best" or "worst" ohm level, it all depends on what you are looking for in your vape.

What is the safest ohms for vape?

But to ensure that you remain safe, build a bit higher; 0.12ohm would be better to ensure that you're vaping safely within the limits of your batteries and not stressing them. NOTE: A single coil with a resistance of at least 0.11ohm is safe for the build above.

What coil resistance should I use?

It's a good idea to start vaping with an atomizer and coil in the 2.4-2.8ohm range and take it from there.

What resistance coil is best for flavor?

Coils With a Rating At 1.0 Ohm or Above Coils with at least 1.0 ohm resistance are designed for 'mouth-to-lung' vaping. They produce a subtle, cool vapour with intense flavour.

Is 1.2 ohm good for salt Nic?

If you're using a coil that's around 1.0ohm to 1.2ohms you'll get a decent nicotine hit and great flavour. For smokers getting through 5 to 10 cigarettes a day: You're still a “moderate smoker” at this level and something like a 6mg or 10mg will work for you too.

What's the difference between 0.2 and 0.4 ohm coil?

The lower resistance 0.2 ohm coils allow higher wattage to be used. This said, in this case, the 0.4 ohm coils give much better flavour with the Cleito tank than the 0.2 ohm coils.

What wattage should I vape at 0.5 ohm?

For example, a 0.5 ohm coil will vape best at 15 watts up to 50 watts. Another place you can look to find out the appropriate wattage range is on the coil itself.

What setting should my vape be on?

As a general rule, dab temperatures are set between 315℉ to 900℉. Below 315℉ is usually too low to vaporize cannabis concentrates. And above 900℉ can release carcinogens as well as a harsh, burnt vapor.

What wattage should I vape at 0.4 ohm?

between 23-28 wattsThe 0.4ohm coil option performs at its best when used in higher wattage modes between 23-28 watts. The 1.2ohm coil option is best suited for use with either a classic or nicotine salt e-liquid, while the 0.4ohm coil performs best when vaped with a higher VG sub ohm e-juice.

What is mouth to lung vaping?

With mouth to lung (M2L or MTL) vaping, you inhale the vapour into your mouth first, collect it there, then breathe it fully into your lungs. Smokers will be particularly used to mouth to lung vaping, as it's a similar process to smoking cigarettes.

Don't lock it, no real reason to do so with most mods. It will remember the original and will with DNA fine tune it over usage.

A dry bulb thermometer. Pretty much anything else interpolates temperature, but some methods do it very very well.

It’s strange that there is a debate on locking resistance for tc. It’s been around long enough so you’d think the debate would be over. Mods have the lock resistance feature and I don’t think it’s for anything other than tc mode but I’ve had good luck without locking in tc mode.

It's really not so much a debate as the fact that different boards used in mods don't all work the same. Some do require a locked in resistance for decent performance, others not. Which means you have to address it item by item with no fast rule of lock or not.

The SX Mini G Class will allow you to go from 5 to 200W in normal Watt-mode. This means you can use resistances from 0.05 to 3.0 Ohm.

I have found this in the manual for the DNA 75 board. I guess that should settle it, at least for DNA 75 devices. Summary. Locking not necessary, unless you find it doesn't work right without it.

Way too verbose again. The first 2 paragraphs are just setup, feel free to skip them.

Well, im going to have to finally quit vaping after 4 years

Because of the shipping ban, I can no longer get the juice I have been vaping for 2 years. They have stopped shipping them to my local store and I cant order it myself so I am done. I wasn't a smoker before, I just enjoyed vaping, using a nord and buying 1 coil and bottle of juice per month was cheap, and I never noticed any bad health effects.

The new hotness from Molicel, the P45B, has arrived for testing

I’ve been asked about this cell a LOT lately and they’re finally here. Thank you N-Power Energy (NPE) for sending me four pre-production samples! Here are the basic specs from Molicel for this incredible cell: https://www.molicel.com/inr21700-p45b/

An ode to TC vaping

More than 5500 puffs and 120ml later the cotton still looks fine and it never tasted burnt. After more than a year of TC vaping I'm still impressed how good TC mode performs and how much longer the coil and cotton will last than in power mode. In power mode I could barely reach 1500 puffs before having to rewick.

Salt nic is a black hole for me

I can’t make it work anymore. I realized I was hitting my vape way too often. So I made a plan to switch to juul so I can cut down and smoke only one pod, or about a pack of ciggs worth of nic a day. It just didn’t happen.

Nicotine salt potency

Hi, I have a rather simple question that I haven't been able to find an answer to. I vape 10mg nicotine salt, but was wondering if that 10mg means 10mg equivalent to freebase nicotine, or 10mg nicotine plus the acid it is salted with.

Yes. It has nothing to do with matching the resistance on the coil. It is locking in a baseline resistance to calculate temp rise based on increase in resistance when heated.

I just locked it and now the atomizer gurgles ans spits hot vapor randomly , even at 190 degrees ... WTF

TC works by the circuitry continually monitoring resistance of the coil while firing, this HAS TO be locked in while cool for a base comparison. If your spitting hot vapor at 190f, sounds like you're not using a TC coil.

See this is why it's scary responding to a random post. The OP has not responded to the important question "are you using a coil meant for TC?" It sounds like the OP is not. Before you listen to our attempts to assist you, could you please give more info about what you are actually using? Using a non TC coil in TC mode is a big mistake!!!

Acer50 Super Member ECF Veteran

I recommend it. You should lock it when the coil is cold, like first thing in the morning before your first vape, of after it's been sitting an hour or so. The mod controls temp by measuring the resistance of your coil. As temp increases, so does resistance.
