What happens if my vape gets too hot?

If your vape battery gets hot… The vast majority of the time, if your vape is getting hot, it won't be your battery. But in some rare cases, the source of the heat will actually be your battery. Serious problems are very rare, so it's probably still nothing to worry about.

Is my vape meant to be hot?

It is normal for the atomizer to feel warm or hot to the touch. If however it is so hot that you are unable to touch it, you should start by checking the coil. An accumulation of gunk on the heating coil will produce a lot of heat and very little vapor.

Why is my vape tip so hot?

However, most vape pens, especially during extended vaping sessions, can end up with a hot mouthpiece. This is not due to a defect in the pen, it is simply the science of heat transfer at work.

Why does my vape burn my throat?

Volatile Organic Compounds and Diacetyl. Vaping juices may contain volatile organic compounds or diacetyl, both of which are known to cause throat irritation. 10 If you are experiencing a sore throat, changing products or quitting vaping may help relieve your symptoms.

Does vaping make you lose weight?

Using smoking alternatives like e-cigarettes and vapes to lose weight is not effective in the long term. However, it could be a useful tool in the short-term for current smokers who are worried about weight gain to attempt to quit cigarettes.

Why does my Smok vape burn my lips?

It is a common issue that happens to everyone and is luckily quite easy to fix. To put it simply, your vape tastes burnt because the wick inside your atomizer coil has dried out and burned up when it was heated. The wick is the part of your vaporizer that soaks up the e-liquid from the tank.

What wattage should I vape at?

On the contrary, even 10 watts is sufficient to guarantee a satisfying vape, which may be ideal for new vapers. As you become more experienced, it's safe to say that vaping starts to shine between the range of 40 and 50 watts.

Why is my vape popping and burning me?

The crackling and popping you hear from your e-cig is completely normal. It is caused by your vape coil. Remember you are dealing with an electrical device that is doing several things at once as you vape. As you draw on your e-cig, e-liquid is pulled into your atomizer head.

Why do vapes get hot?

Vapes need to get hot to burn the e-liquid and produce vapour. So what is all this fuss about vape pens getting hot? Well, there is a regular hot, and then there’s just a ‘something is wrong’ kind of hot. If your finger grazes the edge of the vape pen and you feel like you’ve touched a hot pan, then it’s probably too hot.

What temperature does a vape get?

Usually, the temperatures get up to 3000 C or even higher . Manufacturers design these parts with insulation so you might not feel the heat at such high levels through the casing. But if you are having a problem with a hot vape, the coil is probably the main cause – especially is you are into chain vaping.

How to cool a vaporizer?

Adjust the airflow to let in more cool air to cool the va pour. If you have a secondary mouthpiece with airflow slots, use it to cool the vapour as well. But don’t forget you still have the option of turning down the wattage.

What happens if your wattage is too high?

High wattage/type of coil. If your wattage is too high, or you are using a complex coil tiger coil or a Clapton coil, you might have heat problems. These accessories are to be managed carefully. Though they have thermodynamics to cool them down, you can also try reducing the wattage.

Can you clean a coil?

But if you don’t want to, you can try cleaning the coil. Remove the gunk surrounding the coil, and you will be good. Of course, this will not be as successful as a new coil since there is only so much cleaning a coil can achieve. Also, it takes a while before the coil dries and you can use it again.

Do Clapton coils burn hotter than standard coils?

For instance, Clapton coils tend to burn hotter than standard coils. The more complex a coil is, the more heat it will generate. And though this might be perfect for heavy smokers looking to blow large volumes of vapour, you need to be careful with their heat potentials. Solution.

Why is my coil hot?

High wattage gets the coil to be very hot, which in turn produces hot vapour. When you open the airflow, cool air from outside mixes with the vapour to cool it. If the airflow is restricted, the vapour will be too hot. Solution. Adjust the airflow to let in more cool air to cool the vapour.

Why is my vape tank hot?

If you chain vape, i.e. vape continuously for a long time, your coil can certainly get hot, and that often causes your tank's exterior to get noticeably hot too. While the heat usually stays near the coils, it can make the body of the device hot too.

How long does it take for a vape to cool down?

Cooling down your vape is a very simple thing to do, and doesn't involve technical knowledge at all. Just stop vaping for about 10 minutes and the vape will cool down. Because the coil is not being heated, it will cool down quite fast.

What does it mean when a battery is hot but not bulging?

If the batteries are hot but not bulging or hissing, it's still worth being alert, though it's likely only an indication that you've run the battery up to or even above its capacity and it will slowly cool down.

Why does my battery keep hissing?

The chance of explosions or fires is much greater with bulging or hissing, because it could be undergoing thermal runaway. This is effectively a positive feedback loop where internal heat is gradually destabilising the battery and contributing to more heat, thereby impacting the battery even more. Sadly, there's nothing you can do to stop it if this occurs. Take the battery or batteries outside if possible and let them burn out.

What to do if you notice heat from your battery?

The first and most obvious thing to do if you notice heat from your battery is to stop vaping. If the heat seems pretty extreme or you're worried, the safest thing to do is remove the tank and put the mod on one side, away from anything flammable. Then, wait to see if it cools down.

How to cool down a vaporizer?

To cool down, just open the adjustable airflow on your device. Many tanks have secondary airflow slots in the mouthpiece, and these are particularly helpful when cooling down the vapor, so if you have them, use them. This can often work without turning down the wattage, but if it doesn't cool down enough you can always turn it down too.

Can batteries explode?

Batteries still have a very very small chance of failing and possibly exploding, but this can be stopped thanks to the multiple safety features most modern devices have.

How to know if your vape coil is too hot?

Do you like a very warm vape? Do you like to push the limits when it comes to big clouds and intense flavor? If your coil is getting too hot, you’re probably pushing things a bit too far and drying your coil’s wick out before it can pull more e-liquid from your tank. You’ll know that’s happening because you’ll see burned spots on the wick when replacing your coil. If that’s the case, you need to tone things down. Try one of all of these three things.

How to remove hot spots from a vape coil?

You already know that you can eliminate them by gently pushing the wraps of the coil together — or pulling them apart — with a pair of ceramic tweezers. What you might not realize, though, is that you can also encounter a hot spot if your coil touches the inner wall of your RDA when you replace the RDA’s top section. You’ll know that’s happening because the coil will become extremely hot, and the vaping experience will be absolutely horrible. If your vaping device has a built-in resistance meter, you’ll also notice that the coil’s resistance has changed drastically from before you replaced the RDA’s top section. This is a scenario that you need to correct immediately. It doesn’t just make for a terrible vaping experience; it’s also a potentially dangerous short circuit situation.

What is a vaping coil?

A vaping device that supports temperature control. A coil made from nickel, titanium or stainless steel. Any modern device will support temperature control mode with all three of those materials. Some older mods may not support temperature control mode with stainless steel coils.

What is temperature control in vaping?

Temperature control is a vaping technology whose time seems to have come and gone. While you could once expect to find at least one titanium or nickel coil available for any given tank, today it isn’t even a given that you’ll find a stainless steel coil for your tank since kanthal mesh is all the rage.

What is the form factor of a sub ohm tank?

One thing worth noting is that many of the replacement drip tips that you’ll find today use the wide 810 form factor. Many older sub-ohm tanks use the narrow 510 form factor. If your tank’s mouthpiece is around the same size as a cigarette filter, it’s a 510 mouthpiece.

Which tip material is best for vaping?

Take a look at this chart, courtesy of Precision Punch & Plastics. Between the three popular drip tip materials, Ultem has the highest heat resistance and may be the best choice for extremely high-temperature vaping. For non-extreme sub-ohm vaping scenarios, though, any of the three materials work well. If you like the look of a particular material — or simply like the way it feels on your lips — choose that one.

Why is it important to eliminate hot spots before using a coil?

It’s important to eliminate hot spots before using a coil because a coil that heats unevenly will never give you a good vaping experience. It’ll always create hot, harsh vapor that doesn’ t taste right — and since it’ll quickly burn through the wick, things will only get worse from there.

What is vape gear?

Vape gear, like vape pens and counter-top vaporizers, operates at much lower temperatures than your typical open flame. In fact, some vaporizers allow you to dial in exactly the temperature you want. This prevents the cannabinoids you need from literally going up in smoke.

What happens when you immolate weed?

The same thing happens when you immolate your weed. The high heat of the flame basically “boils off” a good portion of the cannabinoids. After that, you’re left with less of the good stuff you came for and some seriously scorched smoke (Harsh, man!).

What temperature does a BIC burn?

When you light a match or flick your Bic, the flame produced is, at minimum, 600 ℉. That’s hot! So hot, in fact, that it’s actually destroying a portion of the cannabinoids in your pot. That’s bad! A normal flame can do so much damage because most cannabinoids begin to boil at half (or even a third) of that 600 ℉.

Can you burn THC in a match?

But if you use an open flame from a lighter or a match , you’re applying more than double the heat necessary to turn the THC into vapor. That means you’re burning up a lot of the THC.

I just recently got myself a sigelei 100 plus and I absolutely love it. Coming from a mechanical mod I'm having a great time trying out new builds that just wouldn't work in a mech mod. I'm noticing, however, that no matter what I do my coils are consistently hitting hot.

Had the same problem! I usually use 24 gauge, seven or eight wraps and wind up around .6 - .7 ohms on a Plume Veil. On my mech, I have no idea what wattage it's running at, but on my IPV mini (30 watts max), even 24 watts was too damn hot!

I have the same set up exactly like you right now except I have a magma rda on top of my sigelei. I definetly had this problem at first but then I realzed that there is too much power going into these small ..... coils in building (vaping at 100 watts only of course).

i wasnt placing "blame" on the chip i was just giving an example on how different they can be from one mod to the next. sorry if i gave that impression.

I love this forum! This guy was totally perturbed as to why his vape was so hot. Got some information and now he understands!!

What happens when you fire a mech?

In a mech usually your mod will be getting hot when you fire it. Or your batteries will be getting hot.

Can a battery get too hot to hold?

Your battery will get way too hot to hold before it vents so stop way before it gets that far.
