Does coil diameter affect?

The Diameter is Key

It also allows the coil to fit nicely in the tank while ensuring that cloud production and flavor are properly balanced. The diameter also determines the heating surface area of your coil, which has a lot to do with how much vapor you take in per hit as well as how consistent your hits are.

How do I choose a coil for my vape?

The size refers to the diameter of the coil. As a rule of thumb, the higher the wattage level of your device or the lower the resistance level of your coil, the smaller your coil may be. Small coils will give you stronger, richer flavor, while large coils will give you bigger clouds.Sep 18, 2019

What does more wraps on a coil do?

More or less wraps will change the coil resistance. Also the inner ID of the coil will change the coil resistance. More wraps the more surface area of the coil so means more clouds.May 2, 2018

Are there different size coils?

Short answer is, yes there are. The long answer is a bit more complicated. Not only do coils differ between brands and models (we'll cover that in a bit) but you can also have vape kits with multiple coils. How many times should I wrap my coil?

How many coil wraps do I need? This depends completely on what type of coil you're building, your target resistance and even how much flavor you want from your coil. We'd usually suggest sticking to around 6 wraps as this will give you a good cross sectional surface area with decent flavor.

Fairly new at rebuilding my own coils. Just got a Infinite Magma this week and have had some success with building single coils for it (I haven't tried building a sub-ohm coil just yet).

I think part of the equation that matters to me when deciding how or what to build is not addressed in your post. Airflow, where its coming from and how much. With your magma, do you like a tight draw or open? Wicking material can also play a part in the decision process, i.e.

With 3mm I find the cotton wicks so much better. I struggled with the freakshow mini tho the coils are almost shorting on the deck/top cap. Gets hot super quick

In theory, you'll have the same length of wire in contact with cotton whatever the diameter of the coil.
