Stronger hits are associated with increased nicotine in vaping juice. Increased levels of propylene glycol (compared to vegetable glycerin) has an increased hit. Smaller mouthpiece which narrows the airflow can cause a harsher throat hit. Dry hit, when the juice isn't transferred to the atomizer coil, causes a burning hit.

It is a common issue that happens to everyone and is luckily quite easy to fix. To put it simply, your vape tastes burnt because the wick inside your atomizer coil has dried out and burned up when it was heated. The wick is the part of your vaporizer that soaks up the e-liquid from the tank.Jul 30, 2020

What flavors are they? I've discovered some juices are a more dry than others and hit the throat (and nose) hard. I have a root beer that's 12mg nic and 20 PG/80 VG. It's not one that I vape more than a few times consecutively. Makes my eyes water!

Are you getting the burning with just a freshly-charged battery, or do you also get it as the charge runs out?

moze229 Senior Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

You may have my problem. I cannot vape straight juices. I have to mix them with straight PG/VG at least 50/50. I will cough and get a burning sensation with most flavored juices, but not all. For some reason the flavorings just don't like me. I vaped unflavored for a while but got tired of it.
