Why Does a Vape Mouthpiece Get Hot? When you vape, your heating coil heats up to vaporize the given product you are vaping. As that coil heats the product, it will invariably transfer the heat to other parts of the pen. Even for high-end pens that are well insulated, this will inevitably happen.

Why does my tank get hot when I vape?

Open the airflow control and inhale the vapour directly into your lungs, do not try to pull the vapour into your mouth the way you would a cigarette or there will not be adequate airflow moving through the tank to keep the coil cool. Seconded. "Just breathe it like air" is the tip I usually give. No mouth, all lungs.

Why are tank mouthpieces getting so hot?

Mar 22, 2020 · Why Your Vape Tank Gets Hot. There are two common reasons why a vape tank might get hot. The first reason is that the tank has a metal mouthpiece that directly touches the tank’s chimney or coil. Since metal conducts heat, the heat from the coil will travel to your lips if that’s the case. Modern vape tanks get around that problem in two ways.

Why does my vape taste burnt?

Why Does a Vape Pen Get Hot?

Heat is a key aspect of vaping. It turns your substance into vapor, and therefore, your device will create heat. However, when you are new to vaping, it can be harder to determine what is normal heat and what is not.

Where is the Heat on the Vaporizer

If your device is hot, the first thing you should do is determine where it is hot, and where the heat is coming from. In most cases, the heat will come from either the mouthpiece, vape tank or chamber (where the coil connects) or from the battery. However, you need to keep in mind that heat doesn’t stay in one place.

How Hot Is Too Hot?

Once you determine where your device is hot, you need to think about how hot the device is getting. For example, heat will come from the coil. The coil is designed to get hot. Nonetheless, there is a difference between the heat it should produce, and when your device is getting too hot.

What Are the Most Common Reason Vape Pens Get Hot?

Vape pens can get hot for a variety of reasons, and in most cases, it is typically due to normal instances. However, this does not mean it cannot overheat. In most cases, the most common reasons vape pens get hot are due to one of four things - the battery, chain vaping, the coil, or the mouthpiece.

Vape Mouthpiece

When it comes to a vape getting hot, the number one issue related to heat and vaping devices is the mouthpiece getting hot. In fact, it can get so hot, it can somewhat burn your lips. This is why many vape kits and retail shops offer some sort of rubber mouthpiece extension sleeve.

Vape Battery

When your vaporizer gets hot, the majority of the time it will not be due to your battery (and it is even rarer for it to be a serious issue with your battery). However, if you notice the heat is coming from outside of the device (especially if you have a box mod), it most likely means the internal parts of your battery are getting hot.

Chain Vaping

One of the more common issues for a vape getting hot is chain vaping. The coil to your device gets hot as part of the vaping process. However, if you vape continuously for long periods of time, this can cause your coil to overheat your tank. Due to this, the exterior of the tank will also get hot.

What is a vape mouthpiece cover?

Vape mouthpiece covers are usually made from silicone and slip over the built-in mouthpiece of your vape. Silicone does a good job of mitigating heat transfer, so silicone slipcovers are a great way to protect yourself from a hot mouthpiece.

Can you vape in the sun?

Vaping in the sun or when it is super-hot out will cause your vape pen to heat up considerably faster than if you were out vaping in the snow. If you know your pen has a hard time staying cool, just vaping in the shade an air conditioned room can help keep your mouthpiece at a more comfortable temperature.

Do dry herb vapes heat up?

All vape pens are susceptible to getting hot mouthpieces. However, dry herb vapes are considerably more vulnerable than wax or oil type pens. When wax and oil pens heat up, they are heating a coil that has direct contact with either the oil and wax. While the heat can definitely still be transferred, there is less surface area that is being actively heated at once, making transferring heat to the mouthpiece a slower process. Also, for wax and oil, you are only actively heating the coil when the power button is pressed. It is not a continuous heat process like what happens with dry herb vaporizers.

How to keep a vape pen from overheating?

It is easy to forget that your little vape pen can be cooking at 400F degrees (or higher!). Managing when the pen is pumping power and when it is given time to rest can help mitigate overheating quite easily. Simply turning the vape pen off between puffs can help the pen stay at a cool, comfortable temperature. This is also a good technique for extending battery life, too. This will be more challenging when using dry herb vape pens, as they tend to hold their heat more than wax pens or oil pens.

Can you use a second mouthpiece for vaping?

Simply having a second mouthpiece on hand can be an easy solution for you. It takes time for a mouthpiece to heat up. When that happens, simply switch to a different, cooler mouthpiece and continue vaping. This is a great solution if your particular pen takes a while to make the mouthpiece uncomfortable. However, if you find that the mouthpiece heats quickly, you may want to look at a sleeve or extension to help mitigate the heat.

Why does my vape get hot?

7 Common Reasons Your Vape Gets Hot When You Inhale. 1. A Reduction in the Size of the Airflow Holes. Many sub-ohming devices have very wide holes that lead to the creation of large clouds of vapor. The problem with the holes being too large is that you will also end up inhaling plain air in the process.

Is it normal for a vape to get hot?

In the process, some of that energy becomes heat. Since it’s electronic, it’s normal for your vape to get hot. It’s part of how they were designed. If it feels hotter than usual though, you need to make certain adjustments. The excessive heating might make you uneasy especially if you’re new to vaping.

Why is my juice flow restricted?

When the juice flow is restricted, it could be because of its thickness or the design of the tank. VG is thicker than PG so you might experience this challenge when you use a juice with high VG content.

What is chain vaping?

Chain vaping is when a vaper takes short, multiple puffs in short intervals. This prevents your wick from soaking up enough vape juice before your next puff, causing it to burn.

Do you need a high wattage to heat up a coil?

When the coil you’re using is high in metal mass, you’ll need a high wattage to heat it up. However, the coil’s high mass makes it retain the heat for some time even when you’re no longer pressing the fire button.

Why is my vape tank hot?

The first reason is that the tank has a metal mouthpiece that directly touches the tank’s chimney or coil. Since metal conducts heat, the heat from the coil will travel to your lips if that’s the case. Modern vape tanks get around that problem in two ways.

What is the best insulator for vaping?

The most common insulator for vaping is polyether ether ketone (PEEK). If you can find one, a PEEK spacer that fits between your tank and your vaping device can keep the heat from radiating to the device and battery.

Can you vape with mesh coils?

They heat up instantly, and they also dissipate heat quickly when you release your device’s fire button. Using a tank with a mesh coil really is a wonderful way to vape. Learn more about the benefits of mesh coils.

Happens with all tanks (the thing the juice goes into). I am also not a chain vapor so I'm not using the battery constantly.

The mouth piece is nice and curved for a reason, your lips should be resting on the halfway point of the black tip.

It really sounds more like you are doing it wrong, either chain hitting or something else. While your reflex is to "toke" it like it was a cig, DONT!!!

I tend to take long drags with short breaks in between so I am making the coil too hot which then makes the mouthpiece too hot and thus burns my lips. You guys are awesome with all this help. Thanks so much!
