the only manners in which a coil (s) will catch fire and flame is if there is something burnable on/in the coils... such as oil from the wire manufacturing process, Ejuice, wick... but it looks like there was no wick... when pulsing coils to prep them, you use short consecutive shots to heat up the coils to a dull orange glow...

when you use dual coils, the ohms of a single coils rating is divided in half... for example... 2 coils at 2 ohms in parallel = 1 ohm.

What wire is your coils? Agree your diameter is making for a tight fit. Resistance will also fluctuate if your leads aren't secured tight enough.

They look like fused claptons so I'm guessing you just burned off the juice that it had inside it. They act like mesh and absorb some juice themself. I get a few small fire with some juices with just a single round wire build so I'd imagine yours looked like a small camp fire.

Sounds to me like your coils are not balanced (same resistance on each side), and cotton bursting into flames is almost unheard of, unless the cotton was extremely dry, which should not have happened unless your "few drops" didn't reach that particular piece of wick.

If one side is firing long before the other, like Earthling said, are they the same resistance? Other than that, I ran into something similar on the first RDA I bought, one of the coils was not firing at all. After close inspection one of the legs on the none firing coil had broken.
