Is it possible you vaped more than normal yesterday? I've had some days where I go way overboard vaping due to anxiety, and the next day when I vape the same stuff, it hurts my throat. This is especially true if I use some of my husband's 24 mg juice when I run out of my 16 mg - it's too much nicotine for me and causes throat irritation.

I agree with erratum its most likely a priming issue. The juice probably didn't fully wick before you took your first hit.

There should be an ohm rating right on the coil itself if you unscrew it from the base. It's tiny and might be hard to see for some people, but it's there. I agree with others who have said this might be the issue. Either that or it's a faulty coil, which I actually think is more likely.

Now, I am getting no vapor and a horrible taste. I don't have variable voltage, so that isnt an issue. What do I do to prime a coil? (i have one left til I get my new vape, so don't want to waste it...or have to drive 40 miles to get more...out in bfe).
How long should I wait between puffs of VG?
If you decide to move to high VG juices like 20/80 or 30/70 you should wait even longer between puffs because VG is more syrupy so it needs more time to get absorbed by the cotton wick, and or you could decide to dilute the juice slightly with water, albeit using a higher VG juice generally also means less flavor and bigger clouds so to keep the flavor I wouldn't add too much water to that.

Can you burn out coils with long puffs?

Can you vape if you don't need nicotine?
If you don't need nicotine and vaping irritates your throat, just don't vape. If you are determined to vape, try a lower wattage. Try a different device. Try a rebuildable atty using stainless steel wire. Etc.
Does Smok have mods?
Smok has some excellent mods that work quite well. I have a Smok Alien and Wismec Releaux 2/3, and that's going to keep me going for quite a long time. If you have a vape shop nearby, go in and have them tell you about the various products. You can get good mod starter kits online, which include the mod and a tank, relatively inexpensively. The pens such as you have now aren't all that great for flavor or clouds, but are just meant as a starting point for beginners.
