What's the difference between the Sony VTC4 and the vtc5a?
Sony, Samsung, LG, etc aren't actually big fans of their batteries being used for vaping because we are using the batteries well outside of their intended purposes. They're designed to be used in battery packs (loaded with safety features) inside of things like computers and such. They aren't designed to be used the way we use them.

An authentic VTC5A at a factory charge (generally 3.4 to 3.7v for shipping and storage purposes) just won't have the oomph to test to begin with. After about nominal gentle 5 recharge and discharge cycles will be at its most powerful ability after a 6th recharge.
