Using a sub-ohm vaping setup is the first reason for an instant crackle. An RTA with a fairly open airflow forces air and increases the productivity of the vape. More e-liquid will condensate and less turn to vapor, thus an excess of liquid makes the noise.

If the delicate lining of the vocal cords are exposed to hot, vaporized chemicals, the tissues are likely to undergo change and lose their ability to behave normally. This may produce hoarseness, loss of vocal range, voice fatigue, or vocal injury.

A few days ago, I am having problems with my voice. It's better in the morning, but it's getting worse at night. My voice box feels dry and tight. I use my voice with my job, so I'm not sure if it's just because of work or if it's because of vaping.

Hedonologist Member

Probably not due to vaping, but some juices contains aerosol that will cause mild irritation. New vapers might also take a little time getting used to it. See if it passes in a few days, I'd bet that its far likely to be due to your job.

Stopcigarettes Member

When I used to be a heavy smoker I used to get the same side effects with certain cigarettes. Not all of them did this only one brand did, as soon as I would change brand my throat would get instantly better. It could be from the juice, try using another juice and see if the throat irritation persists.

How high is the nicotine level in your e-juice? This could be an issue with the nicotine hitting your throat. I had a few issues when I first started vaping. I also had a few issues with finding the right temperature on my vape. I would suggest playing with your temperature settings as well.

I noticed my voice sounds funny since I quit analogs too. mabe this is how our voices are really supposed to sound after cigarettes have done their damage.

I assume you are drinking plenty of water so I won't tell you to drink more cause water intake is walking a fine line. Not enough, you dehydrate, too much you're flushing things like potassium out of your system which can cause other problems: for example cramping.

My voice is a little different as well. Its a little more raspy sounding. I think its just because we have a new substance that we are inhaling and its probably drying our voice boxes out a little. It only does it every now and again...im not worried about it. Beats gettin cancer from analogs.

It may be the vaping. However, vaping may have nothing to do with it. I live in AZ and people around here are losing their voice, have a bit of a scratchy throat, etc. None of these people are smokers or vapers. Some end up with more serious lung and bronchial infections. My hubby is one of those affected and he is a non-smoker & non-vaper.

Sister-in-law that watches the kiddos had laryngitis like symptoms last week, now 1 kiddo and I myself have the same symptoms. I'm going with pkg on this one. Methinks it's a mild rhino- or pneumo- virus thats making the rounds and then hitting some harder than others if they have low immune thresholds.

thanks for the responses, I can tell you it's not a virus etc. It's definitely from vaping, tried getting rid of the PG and the pain from the sore throat went away but my voice is still hoarse. I'll give it another week and then make a decision, but I can't go around without a voice for much longer. I switched to Ecopure liquid 100% VG.

Before vaping I quit smoking for a few months and lost my voice until I began smoking again. According to the doctor the muscles in my vocal cord weren't closing properly allowing air to flow incorrectly. Soon after going back to cigs it came back. It didn't happen when I started vaping but I figured it was because the muscles were being used.

I've noticed that my mouth definitely gets dry and a tickle in my throat. So that's when I drink a bunch of water, chew gum, and cut back on the vape a bit.

It truly sounds more like dehydration than vg/pg mix. You are going to have to keep a BIG jug of water in the back room.
