This has been happening for the past two weeks. Every time I go to unlock mod after it goes into standby and I hit the fire button to use it, the mod ask is this a NEW or OLD coil. I haven't changed any settings.

i found my rdas negative post was loose at the bottom, i tightened it and it stopped asking

What firmware version are you running/have you been running? Does it only ask about New/Old Coil with the most recent (SP27)?

James that is correct, SP27 is what is installed don't recall about previous versions.

Isn't this behaviour normal when using temperature control with a high changing resistance material and an unlocked coil? Some materials double their resistance value at certain temperatures.

1. Make sure your coils are primed
A mistake new vapers tend to make is failing to prime vape coils adequately. “Priming” simply means making sure the wick is saturated correctly before you vape.
2. Ensure your tank is full
A cardinal rule for avoiding burnt hits: Ensure the two wicking ports (the tiny holes on either side of your coil) are never exposed. Failing to do this will significantly decrease your coil’s lifespan and increase the likelihood of hell being unleashed into your lungs!
4. Be careful not to chain vape
