PG = bad for cats, okay for dogs. Cats can't metabolize the PG and it builds up over time until it reaches toxic levels. This is the explanation I've heard - use VG around cats.

Hmm. Nice topic. I didn't know PG was bad for cats. I have 4. I will be more careful with my vapor and juice now. A quick google shows that ingestion of PG causes Heinz Bodies to form in a cat's red blood cells eventually causing potentially fatal anemia. Problems grow exponentially at higher doses.
