Your vape juice can get dark because of another chemical reaction between nicotine and oxygen. Nicotine is a highly reactive chemical and exposing it to oxygen, or even light can cause it to react and turn e-juice into an all-too-familiar brown color. But this doesn’t mean your darkened vape juice has gone bad.

If the liquid is discolored or has turned brown, the cartridge should be thrown away. If the oil is thick, full of sludge, cloudy or you can see crystals growing from the sides, it is time to throw it away.May 24, 2021

Why won’t my vape pen vape?

Jan 07, 2019 · When you vape E Juice, the liquid is heated by the coils to create vapor. But because E Juice is made up of ingredients – flavorings, colorings, etc – some build-up on the coils is almost guaranteed. If there is too much build-up, you get the gunk seeping into the tank’s storage chamber and this makes the E Juice inside it turn dark or black.

Why is my vape pen blinking green?

May 24, 2021 · Every time you vape, the oil is subject to the application of heat and oxygen which leads to the oxidation process. This causes a change in the color of the oil. The older the vape oil, the more likely it has gone through the oxidation process and the darker the oil. This does not mean that your vape oil cartridge is bad and needs to be discarded.

Why is my vape pen not producing vapor?

The most likely reason for this is that the firing pin doesn’t have proper contact with the battery, which can happen when the cartridge is screwed in too tight.

Why does my vape pen taste burnt?

If your vape pen produces an unpleasant burnt taste the reason could be either your vape pen’s temperature control is set too high, or the heating coil has residue on it . If your battery’s temperature is adjustable (a feature found in rechargeable vape pens), you can adjust it to a lower setting using its multi-click functions. Start by rapidly pressing button 5 times to turn it on, then press the button rapidly 3 times to alternate between low, medium and high temperatures. If it’s a problem with dirty heating coil, clean it with a cotton bud.

How many times do you have to press the button to turn on a vape pen?

You usually have to click the button five times to turn on the battery. When taking a hit, ensure you hold the button down, otherwise you won’t be able to draw.

Why does my vape pen leak?

Leaving your vape pen in the car during hot weather can also cause the cartridge to leak. That’s because the cartridge seals expand and creating a passage for vape juice to leak out. Drawing too frequently on your vape pen, known as chain vaping, can also weaken the cartridge seals, causing vape juice to leak out.

Is vaping safe?

Vaping is an easy and safe way to consume your cannabis, that’s why more and more people are turning to this method as opposed to smoking it. However, there’s always that fly in the ointment that keeps you from having a great time when vaping.

While you can’t prevent your e-juice from darkening entirely, there are things you can do to slow down the process:

How Do You Prevent Vape Juice from Darkening in Your Tank?

While your juice may still darken slightly from the oxidation inside the tank, there are ways to minimize the darkening happening from added sweeteners:

In Conclusion

There you have it; the main reasons why color change happens in both a vape tank and inside the bottle, and how to prevent it from happening.

Bottom line: Some discoloration is normal, more is a problem

Vape oil comes from the cannabis plant and other sometimes hemp, or plants in the case of botanical terpenes. Like any organic compound, these various cannabinoids, terpenes, and other bioactive chemical agents can be affected by a number of factors. Chiefly, vape oil can discolor due to any of these reasons:

What does vape oil discoloration mean?

Most of the time, cart oil changing color is a sign that the oil is losing its potency. THC and THCA may degrade into to CBN or delta 8 THC. Delta 8 THC has a decreased psychoactive effect while CBN does next to nothing at all. This process is most commonly caused by sunlight and oxydization.

Discoloration happens more often when you buy a cartridge on sale!

Let’s think this one over: Your local dispensary has a sale going on a cartridge brand. More likely than not, this is because the carts are going to expire soon. Dispensaries, like any retail business, have to manage their inventory and be careful not to overstock.

No stinkies for over a month now, but having a problem. During the day I vape w/a pen style 510 (or CTwist), and clearo. For the past week I've noticed within a day my clearos get hard to draw on, and the e- juice I use turns from clear/orange to black. I don't taste burnt wick, and the experience isn't nearly as satisfying as when I started.

It sounds to me like a carmelization problem. The sugars in your juice may be turning darker, it builds up on the wicks and coils which is really hard to just clean out. That's been the problem for me in the past.

I notice this on my evods if I refill it with the same sweet flavor over a period of a week or so. Just finish the tank, then give everything a good cleaning.

Sweet juices and a hot coil (low ohms /1.5-1.8) causes caramelization of the sugars on my sweet juices. Plus I tend to take long draws as well so by the time I'm 2/3 done with my tank the juice tends to be really dark. Doesn't happen as much since I went back to higher 2.5 ohm coils. Hope this helps.

Caramelization is part of the issue. Another part is heat and light, which partially oxidizes the nicotine and possibly other ingredients as well. I see the OP is in the desert southwest. It gets rather warm out there, doesn't it?

I use a protank and my juice was turning very dark. I turned down my volts on my mod from 4 to 3.5 and now I don't have that problem. I think I was very lightly burning my juice so that I couldn't taste it-only see it.

Why does my vape pen blink?

8 Reasons Why Vape Pens Blink. 1. Low or Dying Battery. The most common reason for a flashing light on your vape pen is to indicate that your battery is running low. When there is not enough power coming from the battery, your vape will give a blinking light (a red light with some devices) to let you know it needs to be charged.

What happens if you drop a vape?

If at any point your vape has been dropped, the impact may have dislodged some of the smaller components inside your device . The more common of these is the connection between the battery mod and the tank: the 510 pin.

What happens if you short a coil?

If you’re building your own coils, or even if you’re buying stock coils, there’s a chance that they are causing a short in your device. If the resistance is too low or the coil has been damaged, it will immediately send an error message to your device which then flashes the warning to you.

Why is my fire button stuck?

Unfortunately, like most electronics, vape devices do have some weaker components, mainly, the firing button. Because of general wear and tear or because some liquid leaked underneath, your fire button may become stuck.
