What wattage should I use for vaping?

Feb 10, 2019 · Going higher wattage I would suggest trying 26 AWG 316L SS, which I also like, but prefer the fast ramp up of the 28 AWG. I also use the Wire Wizard tab on steam engine, which allows you to put in your desired coil spacing.

Also what are some coils i should try with TC? I only have round wire 316l on hand and wondering what specific builds you guys are using?

CMK aka gwyar

Hi, welcome first. Round wire is good - the simpler the coil, the better for TC. SS316 is also possible. Ohm lock only if there are problems with sudden changes in resistance - usually a mistake. First install the coil with "watt" material and carefully anneal it, then lay the cotton wool and assemble everything.

The best thing about the DNA chip is the REPLAY function! I have zero experience of TC with dual-coil, but REPLAY should generally be of good service here. REPLAY = material selection 'watt', regardless of what the coil (s) are made of!

REPLAY is THE feature! Vape and if all is well: save the puff and the control system controls the output from now on, comparable to the TC control. Difference: you didn't have to specify the material and a temperature first. No dry hits.

I don't know how much experience you have with TC in general, but I would suggest starting with a single coil setup, dial that in, then move to dual coils. Temp control is finicky enough with one coil, trying to balance 2 coils using TC can be quite challenging. TC is much, much less forgiving than using kanthal in standard wattage mode.

I have quite a few DNA200 mods and I'll be happy to share my experiences with you. SS316 is basically at the very low end of what our mods can accurately TC. I found it to be on the finicky side because of that reason.

Did you lock the resistance of the coil at room temperature (before firing)? Usually this helps a ton.

rice721 1.21 GigaWatts! Verified Member ECF Veteran

Evolv actually recommends not locking the resistance unless there's a problem. I've found this to be the best practice with both DNA and joyetech mods. Also, the tcr of 316 and 316l is pretty much identical.
