The juice doesn't necessarily move through the wick without some vacuum to encourage it to move, like when you take a drag. You probably should have "re-primed" the coil before using it again.

The coil is probably gone. If it sat around the cotton could shrunk or something. I don't vape drop ins, but with rebuildables if you get that extended sizzle, it means there's not enough cotton or it collapsed. You also can be firing with to much wattage for an older coil....or you didn't prime it enough
