When They Say Kit, They Mean Kit: What don’t you get in this kit? It’s packed with extra coils and spare parts, you even get the option of 2 types of drip tips, one for direct lung hits and one for mouth to lung, nifty as hell, although I’ll most likely never even use the MTL tip after this review.

So my Kanger Dripbox 160W Squonk Kit review has reached its end but I will continue to take this device along with me when I know I’m going to be having a busy outing, in a crowded space with no safe place to refill.
What is an RDA mod?
An RDA is a R ebuildable D ripping A tomizer. The user “drips” e-juice directly on the coils/cotton, applies power to vaporize said e-juice instantly, and inhales supposedly massive amounts of vapor produced by a good build and good cotton. It is a very basic, raw style of vaping that is usually left to experienced users with a good RDA and a mechanical mod. The mechanical mod fires all the voltage/power it can muster directly to the coils and the result is supposed to be the purist flavor you can get from your e-juice, and huge clouds of thick vapor. It is the purist way to get vapor into your lungs, so people that vape with an RDA and a mechanical mod are sometimes referred to as “ purists ”.
What is the challenge of sub ohm tanks?
The challenge for sub-ohm tank manufacturers has always been to emulate as close as possible the “ RDA experience ” . My personal feelings about this challenge is that some sub-ohm tanks have already surpassed the RDA experience, at least the basic RDA experience. These masterful sub-ohm tanks and regulated mods not only emulate the RDA quality, but they are safer, and simpler to use. Not to mention that they do away with having to frequently drip e-juice onto the coils and cotton. And don’t get me started on RTAs. The new RTAs coming out, like the Vaporesso Gemini that I’m working with now, oh man, you won’t believe it.
What is the squonk RDA?
This squonk/RDA device is as simple and as inexpensive as Kanger could produce. It’s lightweight, made from an aluminum alloy, with a plastic bottom battery cap. The only button is the fire button, placed near the top on the front of the device. The squonk box itself, accessible at the bottom of the Dripbox is somewhat pliant plastic. There is a plastic magnetic cover over the bottom of the squonk bottle making removal and refilling a simple matter.
Is RDA expensive?
They can be very inexpensive on the low end and extremely expensive on the high end. The difference, for the most part, is the building materials and/or the complexity of its design. There is nothing magical about an RDA, and it shouldn’t be scary to use.

If you need to charge the device, it takes about 3-5 hours depending on the batteries.
Is the RDA good?
The RDA itself is pretty good and for the most part gets things done; though, when it comes to its actual use I did notice some spitting which was annoying. If you have time to replace the coils or can even make your own, I definitely recommend that you do it if you get this device. All in all, it was usable up until I got annoyed with the spitting problem, your mileage may vary.

The performance of the device, in general, is pretty great. The combination of the strong box mod battery and customizable atomizer coils gives you a great experience with this device. If you’re looking to keep things simple or even make things a little harder and get technical, this device will let you do it.
What coils are used in power mode?
Pretty much all coils need to use with this mode, you can use Kanthal, stainless steel (SS), and nichrome ( nickel -chrome) coils. most of readily made coils are made out of Kanthal Wire, which is why power mode tends to be oh-so-popular among users of different expertise levels.
What is power mode?
Power mode is very self explanatory. You can choose the level of wattage (amount of power per second) or voltage (the force of that power). This is used to set the optimal power for your device, as written on the coil you are using, to produce the right amount of cloud and flavor.
What is bypass mode?
Bypass mode gives you the experience of raw power of your battery to heat your coils. Here you can build your coils at lower resistances than is normally accepted by power or temperature control mode, meaning that the power of the hit will be determined by the sheer state of you battery and the resistance of the atomizer.

So here's question #1... I already have a few LG HG2 20A 3000mAh batteries that I use for some other things. Would those be adequate to run the Dripmod, or should I get a few with higher Amperage?

I hate to disagree with Jason, but the way I understand it the dripbox operates at battery voltage, which will give you slightly longer battery life if you use a .5 coil instead of a .2 coil, but I may be wrong again.

Some sites that sell them say they are a constant 60w, but other sites say they are regulated to 3.7 volts, a .2 coil at 60w outputs about 3.4 volts, can't get much info from Kanger. Most reviews I have read on them say as the battery drops in voltage the vape gets less.

There are quite a few of these new "semi-regulated" mods (for lack of a better term) and they don't explain exactly how they work. I guess it could be am falling out of touch with the newer mods

Charged up the batteries last night, and started using it this morning. So far so good, and I like it. It seems to like to spit and pop quite a bit, especially after giving the squonk bottle a squeeze to make sure the wick is damp. Running it with the air flow about 3/4 open and it's not bad, but still kind of warm for my liking.

how does the 160 dripbox (or the 60 watt) compare to something like a Rio Grand (my only other bottom feeder that ive tried)???
