Lightning Vapes Nichrome 80 Resistance wire is perfect for rebuilding your atomizer, and especially good for sub ohm coil builds. It has a lower resistance per length compared to kanthal, which means that it will heat up noticeably faster and is a preferred alternative to kanthal for many cloud chasers for this reason.

Can You vape with NiFe or tungsten?

Another type of wire well suited for wattage vaping is Nichrome. Nichrome wire is an alloy composed of nickel and chromium, and may also contain other metals such as iron. Fun fact: nichrome has been used in dental work, such as fillings. Nichrome comes in a variety of “grades”, with ni80 (80% nickel and 20% chromium) being the most popular.

What is the difference between ni80 and NiCr?

Yes, one of the benefits of vaping is that you can gradually lower the amount of nicotine in you e-liquid over time until you are no longer need it. Our e-liquid is nicotine free and is pre steeped and ready to vape.

Which vape wire should I use?

What is nickel-chromium vape wire?

 · N80 is really my favorite, because it's quicker to get hot, and it's less finicky than SS. When you dry-burn it, you aren't going to cause off-gassing of strange, noxious fumes or …

What gauge wire is better for resistance?

For example, a five-wrap 2.5 mm ID coil made out of 28 gauge Kanthal will have a higher resistance than a stainless steel coil with the exact same specs. This is due to the higher resistance of Kanthal compared to stainless steel.

What gauge wire is used for Clapton coils?

Some of the most common gauges used for single-strand coil builds are 28, 26, and 24, and thinner wire used in the exterior of Clapton coils is usually between 40 and 32 gauge. There are others of course, and even odd number gauges.

What happens to the wire diameter of a coil?

As the wire diameter increases, the wire resistance decreases. When comparing coils with the same ID, number of wraps, and material used, a coil made with 32 gauge wire will be of much higher resistance than a 24 gauge coil.

What is wire gauge?

Wire gauge. The first basic characteristic of any wire is the actual diameter of the wire. It is commonly called the wire “gauge” and expressed as a numerical value. The actual diameter for each wire isn’t really important. What matters is that as the wire gauge number increases, the wire diameter gets smaller.

What are the characteristics of wire?

These are the diameter (or gauge) of the wire, its resistance, and the ramp time of different materials.

Can you use nichrome wire for vaping?

Nichrome and stainless steel on the other hand are excellent power mode wires for vaping at lower resistances—that’s not to say that they can’t be used for all kinds of inhales. And while flavor is very subjective, many vapers that try nichrome or stainless steel swear that they get better flavor than they did with their previous Kanthal builds.

Can you vape with nichrome coils?

Again, take note that if you have (or suspect you may have) a nickel allergy, then you should not vape on nichrome coils, and maybe you should also avoid stainless steel. Kanthal has been the choice of most vapers for a longer time, due to its ease of use and higher resistance.

Ok. That helps. I was shopping Gearbest tonight & for any coil or wire labeled Ni80 or N80, under the product material description it says nickel. And so many of their wires are Ni80. Who knows what they're really made of? We can only go by what they tell us. Thanks.

Ok. But I think NiCr more accurately describes nichrome which may actually be a slang term for the alloy. "Ni" should be reserved for pure nickel imo. Maybe it doesn't matter. I just wanted to know what the vendors mean.

Which wire has the slowest ramp up time?

If you want to learn more about nichrome, nickel, and titanium wire, Mr. Long Drag has a great article that explains their qualities. It’s true that Kanthal has the slowest ramp-up time amongst them all, but it’s also very forgiving.

What kind of wire is used for coils?

The most common types of wire used for building coils are kanthal, nichrome, nickel, stainless steel, and titanium. I’ll be focusing on the best kanthal and stainless steel coils, mainly because of they’re both safe and easy to use, and stainless steel coils are known to be more durable than the rest while also providing exceptional flavor ...

How much is TEMCO wire?

TEMCo’s wire might be a little more expensive at $6.45 for 100 feet, but it also has more reviews and the highest rating of any kanthal A1 I’ve found on Amazon.

Can nickel coils melt?

For example, nickel coils can actually melt in your RDA if you bump the wattage too high. One last thing you’ll want to consider is the gauge (AWG) or thickness of your wire, which typically ranges from 22 to 34. The higher the number, the thinner the wire. The thinner it is, the more resistance per foot.

Does stainless steel last longer?

The beauty of stainless steel wire is that the coils you make with it won’t succumb to oxidation as quickly as other metals, so they’ll last you longer. When you’re ready to discover how delicious e-juice can really taste, Master of Clouds has got you covered.

What wires can you use to vape?

Kanthal, Stainless Steel and Nichrome are the only wires (as of now) that can be used in wattage/variable wattage mode. Titanium, Ni200 (nickel) and Stainless Steel are the only wires that can be used (as of now) with Temperature Control.

What is Ni200 wire?

Ni200 is made of pure Nickel and has an extremely high temperature coefficient. This is precisely the reason why the guys at Evolv (famous for their DNA mod chips) decided to use Ni200 wire for the first Temperature Control mod. Nickel wire is very soft and springy, making it more difficult to work with when compared to Kanthal or Titanium. When wrapping Nickel, it’s a good idea to space the wraps apart so the heat is evenly distributed throughout the length of the wire. If there are any wraps in the coil that are touching each other, you’ve created a potential hotspot that can cause the coil to short. Because of this, many people have started twisting the wire before they make their coil. This allows for equal heat distribution (if done correctly) with tight wraps; however, it can be time consuming. For this reason some people consider Ni200 to be problematic, whereas other people swear by it to be the best metal for Temperature Control devices.

What is 316L stainless steel?

316L Stainless Steel is a Medical Grade metal that is widely growing in popularity and quickly becoming the go-to wire for temperature control devices. Since Stainless Steel is still relatively new on the market, older mods may not have a temperature coefficient setting programmed to handle temperature control properly. Some mods offer a custom TCR mode, in which case you could use Stainless Steel coils in Temperature Control mode as long as you set the Temperature Coefficient properly. In comparison to Titanium, Stainless Steel feels much stronger and is easier to work with. The malleable features of Stainless Steel allow for easier building with minimal springiness. Stainless Steel is readily available and is also cheaper than Titanium.

How hot can titanium dioxide get?

The good news is that Titanium Dioxide only forms in temperatures around 1,200°F (600°C). This may seem like a lot, just remember that a brightly glowing orange coil can easily exceed temperatures up to 1,300°F.

What is nichrome wire used for?

NiChrome is a resistance wire that is popularly used in most electric heating elements, hot-wire foam cutters as well as household appliances and tools. Due to its ability to rapidly heat quickly with minimal ramp-up time, NiChrome has become the wire of choice for a vast majority of e-cigarette coils that come out of China as well as the preferred wire for cloud-chasing builds . When compared to Kanthal, NiChrome has a lower melting temperature as well as a lower maximum operating temperature. Simply put, this means that the life expectancy of a NiChrome coil will typically be shorter than that of a Kanthal coil. Worry not, these temperatures are negligible as most devices will not exceed the melting point of either metal. In comparison, they both support similar features despite NiChrome heating up faster and Kanthal having a longer life expectancy. If you suffer from a Nickel allergy, you may want to consider Kanthal as it is made from Iron-Chromim-Aluminum and does not contain Nickel.

What wires can be used for temperature control?

Titanium, Ni200 (nickel) and Stainless Steel are the only wires that can be used (as of now) with Temperature Control. When wrapping wire, always refer to Ohm’s Law and build safely! Thanks for checking out Misthub’s Wire Tutorial, Vape On! Filed in: Tutorial , Vape Tanks , Vape Wire. Share:

Is nickel wire hard to work with?

Nickel wire is very soft and springy, making it more difficult to work with when compared to Kanthal or Titanium. When wrapping Nickel, it’s a good idea to space the wraps apart so the heat is evenly distributed throughout the length of the wire.
