If you do happen to have a leaking vape tank, though, it isn’t just messy and inconvenient; it’s also a waste of money because there’s usually no way to reclaim e-liquid that leaks out of your tank. When your tank dumps its contents, that e-liquid is just gone. So, fixing a leaky vape tank isn’t just a matter of keeping e-liquid from spilling in your pocket or on your table – it’s also about making sure that you aren’t investing in expensive e-liquid that you’re just going to end up throwing away.

What is the VG/PG ratio?

That refers to the ratio of vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG), the two base liquids that form any e-liquid. VG is the thicker of the two liquids, so an e-liquid with a high VG/PG ratio will be much thicker than an e-liquid with a low VG/PG ratio.

Some vape tanks don’t do well when they’re stored on their side for long periods. Do you often leave your vaping device on its side overnight and find the device resting in a pool of e-liquid when you get up in the morning? You’ll probably find that your tank performs better if you store it upright. That keeps the coil assembly’s wick openings covered with e-liquid and ensures that air won’t enter the tank and cause the vacuum to break.

The purpose of TC vaping is to limit the temperature of the coil in your vape tank, thus minimizing the chance of a burnt wick or dry hit. Why do multi strand coils pop?

Multi-strand coils often pop and spit due to their design. Twisted coils in particular have a bad reputation for this, but Clapton coils may have the same issue. Their design makes it easier for e-liquid to pool on the coil, and so sometimes it’s hard to entirely avoid popping on these coil types.

How strong are e-cigarette tanks?

E-cigarette tanks are pretty strong, but they aren't invincible. They are mostly made of glass, which means there is always a chance they could get broken or cracked. Most vapers use their e-cigarettes all day long, meaning the device journeys from car to the office and back home again. They might get shoved in a pocket or tossed on a desk. So it's no wonder that damage happens to the tank occasionally. If you start to experience leaks, hold your vape up to a light and examine the tank closely. The light will make it easier to see hairline cracks or chips in the edges that could be causing the leaks. If you see any signs of damage, order a replacement tank right away (and consider investing in a carrying case for your vape!).

I can't remember ever hearing anyone complain about this. But, it really, really bothers me.

I treat my clearos like a carto, if the center post fills by mistake I just unscrew it from battery and blow down mouthpiece into a paper towel at the battery end.

nansc Ultra Member ECF Veteran

What about a cut off straw?Sometimes I put a paper towel over it to keep the juice of my mouth then blow through it.Other times I just tap it on a paper towel.Stupid but it works. Then clean out the connection end with a q-tip If you put a toothpick or a broken off Q tip in the opening (whatever fits) you won't get so much liquid down the opening.

jfoster1 Senior Member ECF Veteran

Smoktek has a syringe with a piece of latex tubing attached made for this for 6.95. Works well. I will post the link here.

440BB Vaping Master Verified Member ECF Veteran

Since you're sensitive to the liquid, why not cut off the closed end of a carto condom and slip the pliable tube over the tip before you blow it out? Easy to use and keep clean and free. Good luck!

dragonladee Senior Member ECF Veteran

I've never used a clearo, but when I fill a carto I hold it at an angle and drip down the sides (steeljan actually made a video about all these little aspects of filling cartos that was good) and I rarely get juice down the center hole-only when I accidentally overfill.

CommaHolly Vaping Master ECF Veteran

definitely tip it and drip onto the inside wall of the carto and let it drip down,,,,,,much easier that way!
