Then as the coil heats up when you vape it compares the resistance of the coil in real time to the baseline reading to calculate the temperature of the coil and subsequently calculate the required power adjustment to maintain the set temperature. Resistance locking only applies to TC and it locks the baseline reading into place.

What do ohms mean when it comes to vaping?

First of all, ohms represent a unit of measurement for resistance, and when it comes to vaping they translate to how difficult is for the electrical current from the battery to pass through the heating coil.

What resistance should I use for mouth to lung vaping?

People who prefer mouth to lung vaping are usually the ones who use standard resistances (above the 1 Ohm limit) and those who prefer direct lung inhale use sub-ohm resistances (below the 1 Ohm limit).

What is the resistance of an atomizer?

It describes how much opposition an object has to electrical current and is measured in ‘ohms’. What you need to know is that atomizers have different resistance ratings that affect the volume of vapor they can produce, vapor temperature and throat hit.

What is a sub ohm vape coil?

These coils generally have a sub ohm resistances and fire as low as 0.05 Ohms. Because the user can set a desired vape temperature, it has total control on how cool or warm he or she wants the vapor to be, and the feature also prevents dry hits.

What settings should my vape be on?

As a general rule, dab temperatures are set between 315℉ to 900℉. Below 315℉ is usually too low to vaporize cannabis concentrates. And above 900℉ can release carcinogens as well as a harsh, burnt vapor.

What does resistance do in a vape coil?

Low resistance coils produce warmer vapour and larger clouds, whereas high resistance coils produce a cooler vape with less current. The resistance of the coil element will determine which type of e-liquid to vape.

Can you change resistance on vape?

As we've seen, you can get a more intense experience by lowering the resistance of your coil. You can also do the same by increasing the amount of power flowing through your vape device. That may sound complicated, but usually there's nothing more to it than pressing an up/down button.

What is TC mode vape?

Temperature control (TC) in vape mods is a technological solution for dry and burnt hits. It also creates a consistent vape while taking longer drags because the temp stays the same—instead of getting hotter. The user chooses the temperature limit, typically from a range of 300°F to 600°F (100°C to 315°C).

Is lower resistance better for vaping?

Higher Ohm Coils The best way forward when looking to perfect your vape is to simply try different resistance levels and see how you get on.

What resistance coil is best for flavor?

Coils With a Rating At 1.0 Ohm or Above Coils with at least 1.0 ohm resistance are designed for 'mouth-to-lung' vaping. They produce a subtle, cool vapour with intense flavour.

What wattage should I vape at 0.6 ohm?

12-25 wattsIn contrast, the 0.6ohm coils have a recommended wattage of 12-25 watts. They are therefore classed as restricted direct to lung (RDL) coils, offering less clouds but conserving your battery and e juice.

What wattage should I vape at 0.5 ohm?

For example, a 0.5 ohm coil will vape best at 15 watts up to 50 watts. Another place you can look to find out the appropriate wattage range is on the coil itself.

Is higher ohm better for vape?

The difference between the two is the resistance and the method of vaping you use - standard coils have a higher resistance meaning less charge and juice pass through them, Sub Ohm coils have a lower resistance, less than 1.0ohms, meaning more current can go through.

What temperature should I vape Indica?

To get maximum medical benefit from cannabis, vape your indica or sativa at 430° to consume as much CBD and CBD cannabinoids as you can. Medicinal terpenes linalool and humulene are well suited to vaping just below the 451 degrees combustion point. Of course, you can vape hybrid weed at this temperature.

What does TCR mean on my vape?

Temperature Coefficient of ResistanceThe Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR) This specific TCR value of the wire is kept in mind by the vape mod, allowing it to adjust the amount of power being sent to the coil and thus control the temperature.

What wattage should I vape at 0.4 ohm?

23 - 28 wattFor example, a 0.4-ohm mod may recommend a 23 - 28 watt setting, and a 0.8-ohm mod may recommend you use up to 35 watts. Some recommendations can go much higher (e.g., 200 watts). Sub-ohm devices work best when using a high VG vape liquid (e.g., a VG/PG ratio of 70/30).

Who was the professor who discovered that nicotine was a highly dangerous substance?

Professor Bernd Mayer was one of the few academics to actually consider and examine the roots for the claims that nicotine was a highly dangerous substance, and try to calculate what the lethal dose was. This came on the back of the e cigarette ‘explosion.’ (Sorry could not resist he pun.)

Is vaping a replacement for smoking?

Then when vaping was really making a name for itself I tried it - more for financial reasons than anything else. Vaping and smoking are not an immediate replacement for each other, there was a two or three week period where I was weaning myself off the tobacco and getting comfortable with vaping.

Is vaping harmful?

Nicotine via vaping is not going to be harmful in the slightest, and this includes addiction. That said, we really should examine what lies behind the ‘Great Nicotine Myth.’

Is nicotine lethal?

The lethal dose of pure nicotine is also difficult to determine, because it easily decomposes a bit and, on the other hand, mostly contains more or less water; however, in accordance with the severe symptoms evoked in several experimenters by 0.002–0.004 g it is certainly not going to be higher than 0.06 g.

Is vaping good for you?

While vaping isn’t ‘Good’ for you, it’s understood to be a less harmful way to deliver nicotine to the user. I was a smoker for over thirty years and tried quitting a number of times only to light up again at some point.

Yes. It has nothing to do with matching the resistance on the coil. It is locking in a baseline resistance to calculate temp rise based on increase in resistance when heated.

I just locked it and now the atomizer gurgles ans spits hot vapor randomly , even at 190 degrees ... WTF

TC works by the circuitry continually monitoring resistance of the coil while firing, this HAS TO be locked in while cool for a base comparison. If your spitting hot vapor at 190f, sounds like you're not using a TC coil.

See this is why it's scary responding to a random post. The OP has not responded to the important question "are you using a coil meant for TC?" It sounds like the OP is not. Before you listen to our attempts to assist you, could you please give more info about what you are actually using? Using a non TC coil in TC mode is a big mistake!!!

I recommend it. You should lock it when the coil is cold, like first thing in the morning before your first vape, of after it's been sitting an hour or so. The mod controls temp by measuring the resistance of your coil. As temp increases, so does resistance.

What resistances do you use for vaping?

People who prefer mouth to lung vaping are usually the ones who use standard resistances (above the 1 Ohm limit) and those who prefer direct lung inhale use sub-ohm resistances (below the 1 Ohm limit).

Why are above ohm vapes so popular?

The reason for which above ohm resistances remain popular with mouth to lung vaping is due to the restrictive draw these devices can offer and the similarities with actual cigarettes.

How low can coils go?

The coils today can go as low as 0.15 Ohms (in the case of Kanthal) and there are mods out there that can fire even lower so technology is no longer a problem. Also vapers have discovered that by twisting two or more types of wire together they can create complex coils like 'twisted', 'claptons', 'fused claptons' and 'alien claptons' which in terms give an even better flavor.

Why do you need a sub ohm coil?

Because it vaporizes a lot more e-liquid, together with the big clouds, it also delivers a bigger quantity of nicotine. This is why, in most cases, if you're used to vaping on 12mg for instance, switching to a sub ohm coil directly implies lowering the concentration to 6mg or even 3mg. Taking a 12mg puff on a 0.3 Ohm RDA could make you feel very light headed so if it doesn't feel right, go for a lower concentration.

What is temperature control on a mod?

Many of the newer generation mods offer a feature called 'temperature control', which works with Nickel or Titanium coils and gives the user the option to set a desired valued between 200 – 600F. These coils generally have a sub ohm resistances and fire as low as 0.05 Ohms. Because the user can set a desired vape temperature, it has total control on how cool or warm he or she wants the vapor to be, and the feature also prevents dry hits.

What is an ohm in vaping?

What is an Ohm. First of all, ohms represent a unit of measurement for resistance, and when it comes to vaping they translate to how difficult is for the electrical current from the battery to pass through the heating coil. The lower the resistance, the faster a coil heats up to a certain temperature and controlling this value is key in delivering ...

What is the difference between lung and mouth vaping?

And speaking about the different styles of vaping, we have two main categories of e-smokers – the ones who prefer mouth to lung hits and the ones who prefer lung hits. Mouth to lung vaping is just like puffing on an actual cigarette, with the vapor going first into the user's mouth and then lungs; while direct lung vaping means inhaling the vapor straight into the lungs.

What is atomizer resistance?

Atomizer resistance is a vaping-related term commonly known as ‘electrical resistance’. It describes how much opposition an object has to electrical current and is measured in ‘ohms’.

What is the ohm rating of a high resistance atomizer?

High resistance atomizers have an ohm rating of at least 4.2 ohms, and were designed for vaping at high voltages (6 volts and above). Even standard atomizers tend to deiver a burned taste under high electrical current, so manufacturers started upping resistance to cater to high-voltage vapers. However, high-resistance atomizers won’t work with standard 3.7-volt batteries, so don’t bother trying.

What ohms do atomizers use?

Standard resistance atomizers have an ohm rating of between 2.2 and 4.2 ohms and are a great compromise between the above.

How many mAh does a low resistance atomizer need?

First of all, it’s not at all recommended you use low resistance atomizers with small batteries with a capacity of less than 400 mAh, which includes all analog-size batteries.

Does low resistance atomizer burn hotter?

That means it draws even more current through it, making it burn hotter than standard and high resistance attys. This produces more vapor, more quickly. The temperature of the vapor is also higher when using low resistance atomizers. That sounds pretty good, but there are a number of drawbacks to using these devices.
