I don't remember what a failing coil tastes like, but a dry hit to me tastes acrid/sour/burns in the throat in a bad way. When I used clearos with replaceable heads I changed them when I noticed a drop in performance/flavor, which usually meant they were gunked up.

If you vape the same juice daily you will get vapers tongue. change it up once in a while. When you return to old flavor the flavor will be stronger. The longer the juice sits the more flavorful it will get. I leave the caps unscrewed to speed up the process. Its called steeping.
