Just getting into coil building. I have a sentinel mod with a nimbus. I bought some 30 ga kanthal today and I'm using cotton wicking. I built a dual coil setup with 9 wraps, it read at .9 ohms. When I use it, it fires and vapes decently but I was just wondering why my coils aren't glowing red.

When fired dry (Which you should not do with cotton) your coil should glow, but they should not glow when wet. If they do.... You'll have an extremely bad vape

As others have stated, it will only glow red when the wick is taken out and you dry burn the coils. With wick the coils are transferring heat and spreading the heat into the material so you will not see a glowing red.

I've no experience with GV wire, I usually use UD which some say is dirty wire. The coils are supposed to glow, from the middle out once all the hotspots are removed, plus they will darken a little, I assume your using Kanthal wire? Do you keep your finger pressed on the fire button? I find pulsing helps for the initial burns i.e.
