II had the same problem with my tanks until I found I didn't have to crank down to keep them from leaking. In fact I created My own worst nightmare by over tightening them. Leather or silicon jar opener work great.

I just use a pliers and am careful to stay away from the glass. Ditto on not screwing them on too tightly to begin with.

That happened to me all the time with my Nautilus tank. I used pliers (carefully). Happened with my Kangertech tanks a few times too. I was being careful not to tighten the tanks too much already and it took me a while to learn why they were getting stuck. What I've found is this usually occurs when liquid get into the threads.

And if none of the gripper tips work a good one time solution is to put it into the freezer for awhile. This works even better on clearos with metal to metal connections, but will also help on a Nautilus. The metal contracts a bit so the threads end up looser.
