Generally, burnt cotton happens when the VG of liquid turns from low to high. Liquid of low VG has good liquidity and can satisfy the liquid supply-consumption ratio of the coil. When it is replaced by the liquid of high VG, the liquidity of the liquid will decreases and the liquid deflecting speed of the cotton decreases.

Burnt hits are the result of powering an atomizer when there is no liquid or not enough on the wicks. Without liquid to vaporize, the coils start burning the wick, and the user essentially inhales burnt cotton.May 1, 2022

Most likely cause is you are applying too much power before your wicks resaturate. You probably know you can't just hit and hit and hit and hit the thing with reckless abandon. The wicks will not keep up and the juice does not move fast enough and your wicks will fry. The viscosity of your juice plays a factor as well.

coils are huge, watts are low. It probably takes a very long time to fire and takes forever to cool down once you fire it long enough to vape. Make some coils about half that many wraps. Start with 6. And don't use so much cotton. You need some space for air, especially under the coils. Glad to help. Enjoy the vaping!

I'd go to a 3mm core and fewer wraps, same OHM and same wire. Maybe even a little space between the coils. Flavor should be same if not better and won't cook the juice out of the coil as fast. Thus burning the cotton.

I might get 6, maybe 12 per piece. I got those cotton pads from FastTech for $7.06. $7.06 / 1620 = 0.0043 cents per wick. Learning to use Scottish Roll technique helps out quite a bit as well.

Can you use spaced coils on TFV8?

Been vaping for a few years now too and started getting this recently after using 3mm diameter 8+ wraps on a TFV8, Baby Beast, Drop RDA, you name it .. Can too many wraps cause cotton?

Make sure your coils are also not too long to wick properly between hits/puffs. Too many wraps can cause this "cotton phenomenon". A good balance between coil length and diameter is also important. Also, the actual process of the coil heating up from the middle on longer wraps can push out the juice physically and burn out the cotton left behind, easily.

Does 80VG work on drippers?
