The crackling and popping you hear from your e-cig is completely normal. It is caused by your vape coil. Remember you are dealing with an electrical device that is doing several things at once as you vape. As you draw on your e-cig, e-liquid is pulled into your atomizer head.Apr 15, 2021

Why does my vape make crackling and popping sounds?

When you vape, your e-liquid hits a very hot coil and turns it into a vapor. This reaction makes you hear a crackling noise. The more or less loud behavior of your vape depends on what kind of device and e-juice you use, or the intensity and strength of the puffs. So let’s clarify the factors that affect the crackling and popping noise:

Is your e-cig making noise when you use it?

The most common is a hissing sound when using the device. Others have also reported hearing a hissing and crackling sound at the same time. It’s likely that your e-cig will make other sounds. But, in most cases, you have nothing to worry about. Whether the sound is a hiss or a crackle, the device is bound to make some noise when you use.

How do you know if your vape mod is bad?

Vape on and enjoy the slight crackling sound of an operating vape, satisfying like a fire in the fireplace. But if it’s really annoying and you feel your ‘electrically charged nerves,’ check your vape mod and fix it if needed.

How to stop your vape device from making noise?

Avoid this by increasing the device’s wattage. Consider vaping at a higher wattage and see if the noises are still the same. Moreover, try to change the airflow adjustments to reduce the amount of e-liquid. Twist the collar of your sub-ohm tank to loose some air pressure.

Why does my vape mod crackle?

You Need to Change the Liquid A thin e-liquid can flood your coil, cause spitback and make your device crackle. This is especially likely to happen in a sub-ohm tank, which works at higher temperatures. E-liquids with high propylene glycol (PG) content are usually thinner.

Why is my vape making a hissing sound?

Whenever you take a hit, you should hear a very soft hissing sound that's accompanied by steady, soft crackling. This means that your device is functioning properly and that your e-liquid is being properly heated by your coil.

Is my vape going to explode?

Any brand or type of vape pen with a lithium-ion battery could theoretically explode in use. If there is a defect with the battery or if the device is used incorrectly, such as using the wrong charger or getting the battery wet, it could lead to a fire and explosion.

What does a bad vape coil sound like?

As it heats up going through the vape coil — especially while the atomizer is not yet scorching hot — bubbles are created that collapse on themselves. They make a crackling noise. Sometimes, a bubble of e-liquid gets big enough to burst violently — that's when you hear a loud pop.

Why does my vape make a noise?

More e-liquid will condensate and less turn to vapor, thus an excess of liquid makes the noise. E-liquid can’t be vaporized effectively when your vape wattage is too low. You need to increase it for normal heating or try to make longer draws. Otherwise, you may flood your atomizer and e-juice will spit into your mouth.

Why does my vape keep popping?

We are talking about occasional popping because of twisted coil build, and you can hardly prevent it. Be sure that your coil twists and braids are very tight in your device. You can also hear a vape popping when your device has a narrow drip tip or chimney.

Why does my vape spit?

Vapes spit because juice collects on the coil and does not vaporize. This problem is caused by coils getting flooded with too much liquid, low wattage settings, and airflow that is too open, and a variety of other reasons.

Why does my RDA tank spit?

Overpriming. A common cause of a tank or RDA spitting is overpriming. Priming coils is essential, but some people overdo it and put too much liquid onto the coil and wicking. Instead, use a moderate amount to prime the coil.

Why do coils pop?

A Coil Design. Twisted and braided coils have more surface area, which helps to produce more vapor and may cause extra popping sounds . Such types of coils have more crannies and nooks, that’s why more e-liquid pops. We are talking about occasional popping because of twisted coil build, and you can hardly prevent it.

Why does my atomizer pop?

A thinner e-liquid might cause coil flooding and atomizer’s popping and spitting. You may use thicker vegetable glycerin instead of thinner propylene glycol liquid. Sugar is very much like wood when it is burned. Both contain cellulose which breaks down when burnt. Then the gases vaporize and make a popping sound.

Why do coils get flooded?

Deep drags are another reason why coils get flooded. Luckily, this problem is easy to solve. Just take slower and shallower drags. The airflow can be tightened, but the drags still need to be shallower because deep drags will flood the coil regardless of the airflow setting.

Hey so suddenly my mod started making weird clicking noises when I pop a battery in it. I fully charged both of my batteries and I put one in and about 10 minutes later it said that it was a dead battery except when I put in on my charger my chatger registers the percentage of the battery as charged??? That's it my mod has crapped out.

These days many mods cost less than a couple packs of cigarettes. Hope you can get a new one soon.

What batteries are you using? how old are they / how many charge cycles?

Thanks guys, hopefully I can get one on Friday! It's been acting funny the last two weeks. Not turning on, not shutting off, not firing. My batteries are two weeks old. Ive charged them like five times since I got them. So I dont think it's them. I have a crappy vape pen to hold me over till I can get a new mod.

Fixing Too Noisy Popping & Crackling Sounds

During longer inhales your device will be pulling more vape juice than it can normally handle and during that time it will gurgle like crazy. Instead of getting more vapor, you will receive a mouthful of your juice (untreated) straight from the tank.

Spitback & Bad Flavor Are the Important Yardsticks

Sounds may be annoying, but mean little in the grand scheme of things. Only when the sound is accompanied by burnt flavor or spitback [hot e-juice shooting onto your lips] should you get really concerned.

What happens if you have a flooded vape tank?

A flooded vape tank can leave a nasty mark on your vaping experience and even damage your vaping hardware. If you hear a gurgling sound, it’s best to investigate further and see what could be causing it. Also, keep an ear out, so the popping and crackling is not too much, especially when using a sub-ohm device.

How does a coil work in vaping?

In the case of vaping, the coil takes the vape juice and turns it into vapour instantly. As a result, you get the clouds of vapour you send out so proudly.

Why does my e juice make a crackling sound?

The action of the liquid gets in contact with the hot coil is what causes the crackling sound. Simply put, the crackling sound is a by-product of your e-juice being turned into vapour. That said, you should be more worried about not hearing the crackling sound than when you hear it.

Is it normal to hear a crackling e-cigarette?

On the contrary, it’s something normal that happens when you’re vaping. It’s normal to hear it every time you vape depending on the vape gear you're using and the e-liquid, so you have nothing to be worried about.

Can an e-cigarette make a hissing sound?

Others have also reported hearing a hissing and crackling sound at the same time. It’s likely that your e-cig will make other sounds. But, in most cases, you have nothing to worry about. Whether the sound is a hiss or a crackle, the device is bound to make some noise when you use.

Can you crackle with a sub ohm?

Also, keep an ear out, so the popping and crackling is not too much, especially when using a sub-ohm device. Excessive crackling can turn out to be an issue so you should pay close attention. In most cases, a few turns and adjustments should get you back to your normal vaping routine.
