How to choose a vape battery for your mod?

When choosing a vape battery for your mod, it’s important to pick one which best suits your vaping needs. Batteries with higher Milliamp Hours (battery life) tend to have a lower discharge rate (lower Amperage, or how much power they can deliver at once).

How do vape batteries work?

The battery within the mod (whether internal or external) is operated via the firing button. This passes voltage to the 510 connector, which is applied to the coil in your tank. The coil has a specific resistance and when this voltage is applied to it, current is drawn from the vape battery to heat it.

How do mechanical vape mods work?

A mechanical mod takes power DIRECTLY from the vape battery, which means it’s important to know that the battery is capable of providing the current required to fire the coil. This is where it gets tricky…

What are the parts of a vape battery?

Right, lets delve down a bit… Most external vape batteries are Lithium Iron (li-ion) and consist of three parts: the cathode (+), the anode (-), and the electrolyte (bit in the middle). The anode of all 18650 li-ion batteries is basically the same; carbon/silicon and graphite.

What happens if batteries are put in backwards?

If you put in both batteries the wrong way and apply a negative voltage, your device may be damaged. The designers may not added a protection circuit (i.e. a diode) because it's battery powered and they need all the voltage they can get. If a device causes a short, that can damage the batteries.

Which way does the battery go in a mech mod?

The correct orientation for a vape battery inside of a single-battery tube mod is with the positive-pin on the battery facing towards the atomizer.

Can you remarry vape batteries?

So how do you marry vape batteries? Well it's simple you buy them new and you put them together in a set and never “break them up” they can be used in any mod together that has the same battery configuration. They are married to each other and not your mod.

How do I know if my vape battery is positive or negative?

Positive and negative terminals are the most important aspects to be able to recognize a vape battery. This is very simple to do: the negative end is always flat, and the positive end has a little button on the top or a little raised terminal, with a ring in the body just below it.

How do you assemble a vape pen?

How do I put together the oil vaporizer pen?Check to make sure battery is fully charged.Examine battery contact head (the top of the battery that connects to the cartridge) for any debris. If there is debris, clean it before use.Attach battery to oil vaporizer cartridge.Connect mouthpiece to cartridge.

Why do vapes explode?

If a battery is to overheat, whether it is inside the vape or electronic cigarette device or on a charging device, it is able to create a chain reaction that can lead to leakage of a liquid that is superheated, explosion, or ignition.

Is my vape going to explode?

Any brand or type of vape pen with a lithium-ion battery could theoretically explode in use. If there is a defect with the battery or if the device is used incorrectly, such as using the wrong charger or getting the battery wet, it could lead to a fire and explosion.

Will a vape explode in water?

5 – Store Your Vaporizer Safely & Away from The Sun As vaporizers are electronic devices, they are easily damaged by water. In fact, water damage can cause the sparks that lead to a fire. Make sure you store your device in a cool and dry place when not in use and clean it thoroughly between charging sessions.

Do vape batteries need to be paired?

No. Using different battery types (with different chemistry) is a definite NO. Mixing Lithium and Alkaline batteries together is another definite NO. The ONLY exception to this rule is if we're simply talking about using unpaired batteries (of the same type, chemistry etc) in a dual battery vaping device.

Can I use 2 different batteries in a vape?

You can use the same two married batteries in a bunch of different dual-battery mods, but they have to both charge and discharge together. Why? When you vape using a dual-battery mod, you're essentially asking for the same thing from both batteries (not quite, but we'll get to that).

How does vaping affect the heart?

2: Research suggests vaping is bad for your heart and lungs. It raises your blood pressure and spikes your adrenaline, which increases your heart rate and the likelihood of having a heart attack.

Which side of the battery symbol is positive?

Most battery cases are marked positive (+) on one end and negative (–) on the other. These markings indicate the positive and negative battery terminals. The direction of the electric current in a closed circuit is from the negative (–) terminal of the battery to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.

Where is positive in vape battery?

The most important things to be able to recognise on a vape battery are the positive and negative terminals. This is really easy to do: the negative end is always completely flat, and the positive end has a little button on top or a smaller raised terminal, with an inset ring in the body just below it.

What is the blue wire in a vape?

the famous blue wire ... This wire commonly called "kill wire" is for switching the system off by shortcircuiting the internal capacitor. This function is needed as magneto based CDI systems would otherwise run until you run out of petrol (gas).

How do you fix a disposable vape that won't hit?

Sometimes, a disposable's failure to hit is simply due to an air bubble in the cartridge that's preventing airflow. If this is the case, try tapping or flicking the side of the cartridge a few times, as this should break it up.

Li-Ion Battery General Information

What do the numbers mean? The battery numbers are a measurement. An 18350 is 18mm in diameter and 35mm long. The 0 at the end means it is a round battery.

Battery Safety

Battery explosions and mishaps are a concern when using Li-ion batteries. As stated earlier, these occurrences are avoidable if you follow basic safety guidelines for storing and using batteries.

What is the circuit board on a vape battery?

Batteries have a small circuit board, usually on the bottom of the vape battery, that stops the charging or discharge of the battery in certain circumstances, such as Over-Charge, Over-Discharge and Short-Circuit. These tend to be slightly longer because of the circuitry and are normally classed as ICR.

What is the anode of a vape battery?

Most external vape batteries are Lithium Iron (li-ion) and consist of three parts: the cathode (+), the anode (-), and the electrolyte (bit in the middle). The anode of all 18650 li-ion batteries is basically the same; carbon/silicon and graphite.

How many volts does a vape battery have?

They provide nominally 3.7 volts of power, 4.2 volts when fully charged and slowly discharge when used. Once the vape battery is discharged below approx 3 volts, they must be charged again.

What is the difference between a mechanical and regulated mod?

A mechanical mod takes power DIRECTLY from the vape battery, which means it’s important to know that the battery is capable of providing the current required to fire the coil.

How many charges does a vape battery need?

Approximate number of recharges a vape battery can undergo before it’ll no longer hold a charge. Duty cycles can be as high as 500 charges but will vary depending on the specific battery type.

What is an unprotected battery?

Unprotected batteries are normally classed as IMR or INR. Both Protected and Unprotected batteries come in either ‘Flat Top’ or ‘Button Top’. This means that the positive electrode (end) of the battery is either Flat or Button, with most mods using the ‘Flat Top’ type.

Why does my phone battery overheat?

Using a different cable to that which your device came with can damage your battery. This is because the cable may have a higher voltage than your battery which will cause your device to overheat.

What happens if a battery is shorted?

If it does short, you'll know it because the battery will either rip itself open or explode violently. Both failures can cause death or serious injury. No it will not work when it is shorted.

Does battery matter in a mech mod?

Technically speaking, it really doesn't matter in a mech mod which way the battery is installed... Your coil isn't polarity sensitive like an IC in a circuit is... However, there can be safety concerns... For example, if the can of the battery is negative and the wrapper gets damaged and is allowed to contact the side of your tube, if the pin of the 510 is on the postive then you've just completed the circuit and the mod will "autofire" until the battery is removed... On the other hand, if it's flipped the other way around then both sides of the coil are in contact with the negative side of the battery and it won't fire... That might seem like a safer alternative, except that when you try to fire it, instead of firing the coil you're going to have a DIRECT and very low resistance short directly between the positive and negative... It's going to go bad very quickly... Especially if the arc created "welds" the switch shut which I've heard of happening before as well...
