I wouldn't take a chance my friend. You don't want any part of that exposed battery coming in contact with the tube of the mod which will probably happen at some point. Throw it out is my opinion.

If the battery has a lot of life left, remove the shrink wrap, order some 29mm-32mm shrink wrap (29mm is the perfect size but up to 32mm will work) and re-wrap it.
