Hope the zinc has helped or you have gotten it see a physician. Its possible you have thrush. It can definitely hurt and makes you feel like you need to swallow a lot. It can also make the areas bleed and acidic foods burn rather badly. The corners of your mouth tend to crack too.

UPDATE: Well, I went out and bought some B-12, zinc lozenges, and also some Hygrogen Peroxide. Of those 3, the Hydrogen Peroxide seems like it is working. I have been gurgling with it every evening and morning. Burns like a motor scooter, but it seems to be doing the job.
