And then we have the vape memes. Most of them seem to poke fun at the community, but that’s fine – a hearty laugh is always welcome! The Internet is flooded with fun vape memes and this particular selection is by no means all-inclusive.
What should we talk about when talking about vaping?
Recommending gear, talking up (are talking down) vape juice brands, offering tips and tricks for leaky tanks, swapping thermal runaway stories (the fewer, the better) – that’s what it should all be about. And then we have the vape memes.
Should humor be used as a weapon of activism in vaping?
Taking a break from serious subjects like health issues or law controversies does not mean we are stopping our fight for proper education and representation of vaping! On the contrary, sometimes humor, especially the irony and sarcasm can be equally valid weapons as activism.

5. Anti-Freeze Meme
I believe this one refers to the claim (not often repeated now) that propylene glycol, one of the ingredients in ecigs, is an anti-freeze. (It is used as an anti-freeze – in drinking water.) Diethylene glycol was also found in 1 eliquid – see the full story here.
18. Game Of Thrones
This ones refers to an old anti-vaping argument, which argued that e-cigs contained anti-freeze. Sometimes this referred to propylene glycol, which is used as a non-toxic anti-freeze in drinking water! Several years ago, one e-cig (out of 16 tested) was also found to have traces of diethylene glycol ( see here for more info ).
What is a vape?
On March 31st, 2004, Urban Dictionary [6] user SweeperOfDreams submitted an entry for the term "Vape," defining it as a slang term for vaporizing devices used to smoke marijuana and tobacco. On January 17th, 2010, the /r/Vaping [3] subreddit was launched for discussions about vaping practices. On September 2nd, 2013, YouTuber 1O1Films posted a video titled "Vapers Be Like," featuring various comedy sketches mocking vaporizer enthusiasts (shown below, left). On May 4th, 2014, YouTuber PDX1K uploaded a video demonstrating various smoke tricks performed with a vaporizer, which gained over 2.9 million views and 1,700 comments in the next two years (shown below, right).
