Hi everyone, when I vape some of my juices I get an burning sensation in my throat that leaves it feeling scratchy. It only bugs me on the exhale not the inhale.

zeroclue Super Member ECF Veteran

I had the same thing when I first started vaping, for me it was the nic. It wasn't that the throat hit was too harsh, more of an unclean/scrape sandpaper over my tongue and around my throat. Always much worse on the exhale.

Dampmaskin Ultra Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

I have gotten used to 30% VG but now I'm out of VG. Still on the same nic strength, 12 mg, but my throat is sore from going from 70 to nearly 100% PG, and I can't vape as much. Looking forward to seeing the VG in the mail.

Zealous Ultra Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

When you say that Moo juice from MBV is "not as bad" are you saying that others produce this problem more than that one? I ask because I have this problem to a degree with MBV juices & I think it's got to do with something in their flavoring for me. Other brands of juices I use don't produce this problem for me.

kslice917 Senior Member ECF Veteran

In my experience with many different juices - here's what I've found: Yes, PG and Nicotine can make for a harsher vape. However, there are several flavors themselves will also do this. I have vaped a mixture of 50/50~18mg Blueberry and it's extremely smooth. I've also vaped the exact same mix of Raspberry, and it was really harsh.

chunkystan Senior Member ECF Veteran

I've been vaping for around 9 months.A few times,I've had similar symptons to you..harshness if I exhale through nose ,harshness on in hale at back of throat. For a few weeks I just inhaled into mouth rather than lungs.Thankfully, after a few weeks this problem went away.I don't stick to VG or PG or indeed,to a particular supplier so perhaps the different brands & types of flavours used can have an adverse effect sometimes..

I exhale a small amount out of my nose for the taste factor at the end of the exhale yes. Also i love custard flaves, i only use custard flaves. I even tried switching flavors and brands. Nothing seems to help.

I'm so desperate and my experience with vaping, tastewise, right now is worse then smoking.

Mike Sheda Ultra Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

Are you letting the wick saturate fully? It sounds like bad dry hits. Also, are you inhaling really hard? It takes a slower draw now. And yes, back it down as far as you can, then move the power up slowly.

Steve803 Senior Member ECF Veteran

It definitely sounds like you're have a bad time vaping. Analogs are quick and easy but vaping takes a little practice learning how not to scorch your coils. It looks like you're fairly experienced at vaping but if you burn your coil you will get a nasty burnt taste.

Go on youtube and watch all the videos you can find on how to vape. I did that one morning because even my husband couldn't tell me or show me how to do it all. Each person sets up their own method of what works best for them.

Did you check the resistance with your Lambo that the M/T3 heads were actually 2.5? Sometimes, Kanger's replacement coils suck or are DOA. That is just the nature of the beast.

Hi I am brand new to this forum so I’m not quite sure if this is the right place to post this thread, but anyways, yesterday I bought a brand new trinity alpha. I’ve owned pod systems in the past and I thought it would be a nice upgrade to my avp.

440BB Vaping Master Verified Member ECF Veteran

Your description of the sensation sounds like way too much nic. I'm thinking the Trinity Alpha is a 30 watt device and may be intended for much lower nic levels (3-6mg) than the many pods that are lower power mouth to lung devices. You could try by starting at the lowest power level, and possibly change it to the Soft setting too.

Ryan11 Full Member

My mate uses a trinity alpha with 10mg nic salts and the flavour and throat hit is decent, he has used both the 0.6 and 0.8 coils.

Hello @Bluefacefan, the Innokin Kroma R or Aspire Nautilus GT kits would probably have been a better option as you have much more adjustment over the experience.

Bluefacefan New Member

Yes sounds like way too much of everything. Need to tone it down using vg or pg. Yes it could reduce the nic amount in terms of mg but I doubt you will even miss the difference.

I've no experience with the Nautilus GT, but it's the latest version from Aspire and Taifun (German high end atomiser manufacturer).

Can you cough up puss after stopping vaping?

If you're coughing up puss then you need to stop vaping now and visit a doctor. If you are coughing up phlegm then that would be considered normal after stopping smoking. I can get a head rush from 1.2% liquid in a dripper and nothing from 2.4% in a clearo. It's the volume of vapour that counts.

The first time i ordered a vape pen i got 3 free liquid, they had 3.6% nictotine which is 36mg right?

Feraloxide Super Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

Yeah, it's pretty normal. If it bothers you I guess you could try decreasing your nicotine content. My friend can't handle throat hitting any of my juices because they're far too high and they burn him.

My sister in law was talking to a supplier about burning in her throat and the guy told her it would be the vg. To get 80 pg and 20 vg and it doesn't seem to be bothering her anymore.

36mg (3.6%) is way above the norm, and nicotine does produce throat hit. BUT, don't confuse throat hit with to hot or to harsh.

abby1 Senior Member

What flavors are they? I've discovered some juices are a more dry than others and hit the throat (and nose) hard. I have a root beer that's 12mg nic and 20 PG/80 VG. It's not one that I vape more than a few times consecutively. Makes my eyes water!

HippyJeepChick Senior Member ECF Veteran

Ok, so I have been vaping for 3 weeks and have had an extremely dry and stuffy nose for about a week now. It is extremely miserable! I make sure to keep hydrated throughout the day. This is easy for me since I only drink water anyways and at least 8 glasses a day. I am not sure this is due to vaping or just the weather or a cold.

I had the same problem. I have been using Saline Nasal Spray and it does the trick for me. No limit on use.

I have never had problems with this. In fact, blowing the vapor from a good menthol juice out of my nostrils seems to help loosen any mucus that might be in there.

Vaping tends to dry me out, too, but a did start using a humidifier and it's helped a lot. It's so dry this time of year, anyway

Interesting thread, I have been vaping for 4 days now and yesterday I was sneezing like crazy. I'm generally not a sneezer, I don't get sneezing fits. I am just coming off of a cold, though, so maybe that's it.

I got stuffy sinuses, maybe from vaping, maybe from winter, but a warm vaporizer does the trick.
