How to install a vape coil?

Insert the coil into the bottom of your vape, and twist it clockwise until it is secure. The white cotton should face upwards toward your tank. You want the coil to be tightly in place but not overly rigid.

How do vape coils work?

When you fire your mod and heat the coil, the e-juice is vaporised and this vapor is what you inhale. The coil is either situated at the top or the bottom of the atomiser. While variations in coil design may change the vapor and flavor output, vape coils essentially all work the same way.

What is the best wire for vape coils?

The original and most popular ‘go to’ vape coil wire. Kanthal is easy to manipulate and holds shape well, making it an ideal choice for those of you new to coil building. Most of the team here first learnt how to build a vape coil with Kanthal and it’s something we all continue to use to this day.

Do dual-coil vape coils work better?

When doing a dual coil build, it’s essential for both coils to be identical in size and form, to ensure that they heat up properly. Dual-coil builds obviously create more vapor than a single coil of the same specs, but require double the power to perform. With two identical coils, the resistance should be exactly one half of each coil’s resistance.

How can I make my vape coil burn less?

Priming your coils is the best way to avoid dry hits. By soaking your coils with a small amount of your e-liquid, your wick will soak up the fluid to prevent it from burning. Last but not least, put the coils back in your e-cigarette and vape as normal.

How can I make my coil burn better?

If you find yourself with a burnt coil, then one of the first things you can do before giving up and ordering a new one is simply to remove the element and put it in a small bowl of warm water. This will loosen up any e-juice that's become stuck to it. After a few minutes, pour out the warm water and add cold water.

Does more airflow burn coils?

Airflow doesn't affect coil life, either. The things that tend to shorten the life of a coil are poor wicking (we have some advice on wicking here), and/or flooding your coil. Over time, if you vape on a flooded coil, you will get a much faster build-up of gunk which will eventually ruin the coil.

How many puffs Should a coil last?

On average, a decently constructed coil for a sub-ohm tank should last you 4 days to 1 week. If you vape less because you cannot vape during work hours, or you do not vape throughout the day, then your coils are likely to last twice as long.

Why is my coil burnt after 2 days?

That burnt taste can occur if there's not enough e-liquid on the wick inside your atomizer coil. The wick is the part of your device that soaks up the e-liquid, which is then turned into vapour when the coil heats up.

How many wraps Should a coil have?

How many coil wraps do I need? This depends completely on what type of coil you're building, your target resistance and even how much flavor you want from your coil. We'd usually suggest sticking to around 6 wraps as this will give you a good cross sectional surface area with decent flavor.

How many watts do I need for a .23 ohm coil?

0.23ohm | Recommended Wattage: 20-45W.

How many wraps 24g kanthal?

On a single coil you're looking at 6 wraps around a 2.5mm drill bit for 0.5 ohms.

What does restricting airflow on a vape do?

With an increased airflow, you will experience less flavor, less of a harsh throat hit and more vapor (with a cooler and looser draw). With a decreased airflow, you will experience more flavor, more of a harsh throat hit, and less vapor (with a hotter and tighter draw).

Does higher wattage give more flavor?

A NOTE ON AIRFLOW: Less airflow with a higher wattage will give you a warmer vape with more powerful flavour.

Why is my vape burning my throat with new coil?

Some vapers are quick to blame it on a faulty coil, but new coils usually get burnt because they haven't been primed before use. By priming your coil, we basically mean preparing it and getting the wick nice and saturated with e-juice.

What do you use to pinch coils?

Wire: any of the vaping wires would do. Flush cutters: wire cutters that can cut close in small spaces. Ceramic tweezers: to pinch your coils while pulsing. Fine tip tweezers: to fluff your cotton and place it inside the wick ports. Small metal rod: a small screwdriver, or coiling tool.

How to build a coil for a RDA?

First, examine the deck and see if it is a dual or a single-coil atomizer. Then check the size of the deck and see how large your build can be—you don’t want your coils to touch the top cap as this will cause a sort.

How are micro and macro coils created?

Micro and macro coils are created by taking a single piece of wire and wrapping it around a screwdriver, drill bit, or coil jig. The difference between a micro and a macro coil is the inner diameter of the coil. It’s that simple.

What is coil jig?

Coil jigs are tools that help you wrap coils consistently by guiding the wire while it is getting wrapped on a rod. They are very useful tools, and they will help you make perfect coils every time with minimal effort.

Why do you need to have two coils?

When doing a dual coil build, it’s essential for both coils to be identical in size and form, to ensure that they heat up properly. Dual-coil builds obviously create more vapor than a single coil of the same specs, but require double the power to perform.

What is a micro coil?

Micro: a micro coil build is a coil that has an inner diameter of up to 2 mm.

How to save money on vaping?

One of the best ways to save money in vaping is to build your own coils. Rather than buying disposable coil heads every week, you can make your own. It’s a fun hobby that vapers not only take pride in, but get to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The way to get good at it is through practice. Although, it’s perfectly reasonable for first-time ...

So what is you most efficient coil build for mech mods with a single 18650 battery ?

Lucas Rong Senior Member ECF Veteran

24 gauge kanthal dual parallel 6 wraps around a 3mm is a simple way to go. Some might not like the warm vape and also since you use 28 gauge, so you can do a regular dual 24g coil instead. Always build within your batteries limits. Also you should try out nichrome wire, it gives off a way cleaner taste than kanthal imo.

Efficient is subjective. I wouldn't last 10 minutes vaping your setup.

How to change coil on vape?

Do this if your juice has a funky or burnt taste, for instance. To easily replace your vape coil, take off the tank and twist off the coil. Be sure to pre-saturate the cotton of your coil so it doesn’t burn. With proper maintenance, you can get full-flavored rips while keeping your vape in great condition.

How to take off a vape coil?

The coil is also called an “atomizer head” or “replacement head.”. You can use your hands or a paper towel to take off the coil. Twist the coil counterclockwise until it comes off of the bottom of your vape. A paper towel will help keep your hands clean.

How to get vape juice out of tank?

If there’s any vape juice still in your tank, dump it out. Next, unscrew the co il from the base of the vape by twisting it counterclockwise. Pre-saturate your new coil with 5 to 8 drops of vape juice so it won’t burn, then screw your new coil into place.

Why does my coil clog up?

If it has a burnt aftertaste or if the flavor seems sour, it is time to change your coil. Over time the juice starts to clog up the coil. If you use sweet, sugary juices, they may clog up your coil more easily. The sweetener essentially caramelizes on the coil as it heats up.

How to get rid of burns in vape coil?

1. Pre-saturate your coil with 5-8 drops of vape juice. The cotton in your coil is brand new when you take it out of the package. If you place it directly onto your vape, it will start to burn. To avoid this, drip about 5 or so drops across the cotton from the vape juice bottle.

How to unscrew a vape?

Every vape setup is slightly different, but in general, you can easily unscrew the tank from the bottom section. Hold the tank upside down and twist the tank off using your hands.

What does it mean when your coil is brown?

Additionally, if your coil looks brown or black, this is a sign that it is burnt and you should replace it.

What is a coil in a vape?

The coil is the heating element inside every vaping device. Wrapped around a cotton or hemp wick, it heats up the e-liquid that releases the rich clouds of vapor you enjoy. These heating elements are typically built out of resistant wire and are looped to resemble a spring. Since each has a positive and negative terminus, it carries the electric current supplied from the battery. Check your coil building guide and you’ll learn how vaporizers may have single or double configurations that affect how the device performs.

How long does a vape coil last?

Typically, an average vaper can make the heating element last for at least a couple of weeks. Heavy-duty vapers might want to change it every week while light, occasional cloud-chasers can probably get by a whole month without getting a replacement. Again, this time frame depends on the particular type of e-juice you like and possibly, the specific brand. High-grade e-juices like Dinner Lady typically protect the coil and help it last longer. Additional signs include a gurgling sound that indicates air leakage or lower volumes of clouds. If that happens, you’ll know that the heating element is not working efficiently enough, and you need to change it.

Why do you need a coil building guide?

Why would I need a coil building guide? Is that your first question? The answer is really simple! If you absolutely enjoy vaping, learning how to make vape coils can enhance your experience to a whole new level. Taking the time to learn lets you customize cloud-chasing so you can get the most out of it. The next important reason? You’ll likely make substantial savings by building wire loops in place of buying new equipment each time the old one wears out. Ready to get started?

Why are nickel wires so efficient?

Similar to Titanium, nickel wires are also efficient because they heat up quickly. However, dry burning also causes oxidizing. Besides, you risk getting an allergic reaction to the metal since the nickel used is in pure form. Further, you can use these wires only with Temperature Control and not wattage modes. The metal is soft and pliable so constructing the heating element is easy for someone who is learning how to make vape coils. But, this feature can also be a downside since the wire can bend out of shape when you’re trying to wind into loops.

How many loops to heat up e juice?

If you’re looking for more cloud volumes, you can go for two loops. Like your coil building guide will explain, the principle is simple. Two loops heat up the e-juice more efficiently since they produce more heat. Higher heat is likely to give you thicker, warmer, and voluminous clouds with a stronger flavor and obviously, more enjoyment.

What is the first step in coil building?

The first step of your coil building guide is an understanding of the equipment you’ll need. If you search online, you’ll likely come across complete kits that have all the necessary supplies including a coil master. However, if you would prefer to buy them separately, here’s what to order:

How many ohms for dual coils?

Users wishing to execute a dual build should make sure to use half the resistance for each. For instance, if the total build is 0.3 ohms, you’ll use two 0.6-ohm loops. When experimenting with how to make vape coils, if you decide to take away one of the heating elements, know that the resistance is now 0.3 ohms.

What do you need to make coils?

To start building your own coils from scratch, you’ll need to following items. Fingernail clippers/thin wire cutter. Precision screwdriver set. Kuro Koiler Tool (which I suggest) A pair of scissors for cutting your cotton. An Ohms Reader is recommended but not required if you are using a regulated mod. Kanthal Wire.

What tools do you need to build coils?

There are a lot of different kits and tools for building your coils. Everything from a precision screwdriver and pliers to more easier tools like a coil jig.

What is coil building?

Coil Building is the art in which you build your own coil put it in your RDA, RTA or RBA, wick it and thus create your own, bespoke coil.

What is dual coil?

Dual Coil: Usually people go to this build after they feel comfortable doing the single coil build. This coil is done the exact same way as the single coil but twice, as you are going to now have two coils instead of the one coil.

Which is the hardest coil?

Clapton Coil: This one is the hardest out of all four that are listed. This coil takes a lot of patience and a bit more time than even the Twisted Coil but once you have done a few Clapton Coils then you will be faster. In addition to being faster, you will get great flavor and cloud production from the Clapton. You install a Clapton the same as the other coils.

Can cloud chasers build their own coils?

And the reasons why are myriad; some prefer the flavor, others enjoy the craft. Any cloud-chaser worth their salt will almost certainly build their own coils — this is the only true path to truly GIGANTIC cloud plumes. It’s also A LOT cheaper than buying pre-made coils from vape brands like SMOK for use inside a sub-ohm tank.

Can you buy coils premade?

You can also buy your coils pre-made if you can’t be bothered with the hassle of making your own.

What is the ohm of a vape coil?

Vape coils generally have an ohm range of 2.4-2.8 ohms, with lots of people enjoying a resistance of 2.5ohms.

What is a dual coil vape?

You’ll see that vape coils come in single-coil, dual-coil, quad-coil, etc, configurations – this simply means that a single-coil has one wick and one coil wire, while a dual-coil has two wicks and two wire coils, and so on, heating the e-liquid together.

What is a sub ohm coil?

High ohm e-cig coils produce less vapour and use less e-liquid and battery. Sub-ohm vaping is when vapers use a coil with less than 1 ohm resistance, to produce huge vape clouds and intense flavour hits.

What is the difference between single coil and dual coil?

Single coils take up less battery power and are easier for advanced vapers to build for their mod kits, while dual-coil, and above, builds make bigger clouds and produce stonger flavour. For most "classic" vapers, though, this won’t be a factor – it’s really something for sub-ohm vapers to think about.

What is an E-cigarette coil?

E-cig coils are one of the most important components in an e-cigarette. Coils are responsible for heating up the e-liquid in your e-cig and turning it into vapour. In strict terms, a vape coil is the wire wrapped in a spiral shape around your e-cig wicking material.

Where are the atomizer heads located?

They are normally located at the bottom of your tank, so that the wick can absorb the e-liquid when it is in use or left to stand.

Can you make your own coils for sub ohm?

Experienced vapers who use mod kits for sub ohm vaping will sometimes make their own coil setups. They purchase special alloy wires and their preferred wick material and then spend time tightly winding the coil wire, manually fitting it into their e-cig kit, and then feeding the wicking material through the middle of the coil. Most vapers, however, will purchase ready made replacement coils.
