What determines the resistance of a vape coil?

Dec 01, 2013 · A dual coil has two heating elements wired in parallel therefore halving your resistance. Where as a twisted coil by itself is a single coil with two stands of twisted wire giving you a thicker wire to allow a builder to have more wraps as well as have tiny gaps between each wrap for more vapor to be released.

What is a Clapton coil?

Clapton Coils are a small gauge wire wrapped around another larger gauge wire in a perpendicular way. One wire is coiled tightly over the other. You get your thicker coil result by wrapping a 24 or 26 gauge vape wire in a 30 or 32 gauge. Surface area shoots up (and so does flavour production).Oct 18, 2017

What is a Tiger coil?

The tiger coil is simply just a twisted coil containing a single round strand and a single flat ribbon strand. Twisting two differently shaped wires gives it more pockets and grooves than a standard twisted coil. This creates more heat and denser vapor, giving it an improvement in flavor over single-strand builds.Sep 20, 2021

How many times should I wrap my coil?

How many coil wraps do I need? This depends completely on what type of coil you're building, your target resistance and even how much flavor you want from your coil. We'd usually suggest sticking to around 6 wraps as this will give you a good cross sectional surface area with decent flavor.

A much tighter twist. 1.3ohm coil on an RSST. I have had this setup for over 2 weeks, and it's my favorite so far.

pdoan2006

I didn't have any luck with my first twist build. Seem too hot for the insulator. Burnt rubber taste always. Similarly, the dual nano build also seems too hot. I got my arc welder up and running again, so I might try one with non-resistance lead this weekend.

Until the past day or so I have only built single strand coils and parallel coils. Now I am trying twisted coils. It was surprisingly easy to twist them with a drill. My problem is apparently wrapping them.

Sounds more like a loose post/screw. pinching should not affect ohm. twisted wire can short on itself a bit, pulse that out.

TrikStari Senior Member ECF Veteran

Now that I have tried these twisted coils I like them. They are supposed to have a better vape than dual parallels, correct?

rolf Super Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

I found them to be immensely better than standard single wire coils. Much denser vapor production and better flavor as well.

How are micro and macro coils created?

Micro and macro coils are created by taking a single piece of wire and wrapping it around a screwdriver, drill bit, or coil jig. The difference between a micro and a macro coil is the inner diameter of the coil. It’s that simple.

What is a parallel coil?

In essence, a parallel coil is made out of two or more wires wrapped next to each other. Resistance is divided by the number of wire strands, so make sure you are aware of your device’s limits when building parallel coils. For beginners, a dual parallel 26-gauge Kanthal coil would be a nice starting point.

How to save money on vaping?

One of the best ways to save money in vaping is to build your own coils. Rather than buying disposable coil heads every week, you can make your own. I've been watching videos on how to make these and how good is their performance but never really saw a vs topic on this since the logic on both these coils is the same: two wires of the same gauge wrapped together.

Baditude ECF Guru ECF Veteran

Resistance (Ohm rating) is determined by the mass and length of the wire. It doesn't matter if it is twisted, the mass and length is the same. Parallel wires are essentially two wires, so double the mass and length of a single wire (which increases the resistance).

IMHO, the fancy exotic coil builds are for enthusiasts and hobbyists. Simple microcoils perform just as well as the exotic builds. (At least I can't tell the difference).
