Should you use custom wattage curves on your vape?

Okay, a power or wattage curve setting works by allowing you to set your wattage separately over a period of increments of time, extending over the complete length of a draw. So, if a draw is 5 seconds long, your mod might allow you to set an individual wattage for each of those 5 seconds or, better yet, use 0.5 second increments and allow you ...

How to set the perfect curve for your vape coil?

Dec 18, 2020 · Each individual wattage value that’s been set is shown to the right of the graph being generated. For a more realistic VPC and the steps needed to set up your own variable power curve, I’ve outlined the steps below. Set VPC-1 to your initial wattage, let’s say 40W. Enter this level and go to the next VPC setting.

What is wattage mode on a vape?

Oct 30, 2021 · The wattage curve mode allows you to construct a pre-set program in which your vape mod changes its power output gradually as you hold the fire button. When you enable this vaping mode, you’ll see a configuration screen that looks a bit like a graph.

Why should newbie be aware of vape TCR mode?

Apr 06, 2020 · Set somewhere between variable wattage and temperature control, curve mode allows for wattage outputs to be preset, mapped, and guided by the user. For example, some vapers may like the coil to initially hit hard, firing at 50W for the first second, dropping to 45W after half a second and then a further drop to 40W after another half second for a smoother finish.

What vape settings should I set my vape at?

For 2-ohm coils, the ideal voltage falls between the ballpark of 3.3 to 4.0 volts. Higher ohm (aka higher resistance) coils allow for a higher voltage. They also tend to produce less vapour and at a cooler temperature. With this in mind, it's upon you to find out what works best for your palate.Apr 21, 2022

What is the bypass setting on my vape?

Bypass modes are a great way to remove wattage from the equation. In bypass mode, the vape bypasses the wattage. Instead, it relies on the highest voltage that it can get from the battery. This means you get more intense hits as well as quicker clouds of vapor.Aug 11, 2021

Is temperature control vaping better?

Temperature control vaping can be an amazing experience. It provides the security of consistency that wattage vaping often lacks. No one likes dry or burnt hits, or vapes that get too hot with long hits. TC vaping solves that.Aug 18, 2021

Does higher wattage mean more flavor?

What are the advantages of a variable power curve?

VPC can have several advantages over standard wattage mode. If the coil you’re using is a complex clapton coil, this will have a large cross sectional area. An initial high wattage will be needed to heat the coil to vaporize the e-liquid.

How long to heat a VPC coil?

You may want to heat the coil initially for 2 seconds then drop down for another 3 seconds, then increase it again to give you another kick in power. If this is what you want to do then set VPC-1/2 for high wattage (50W), ...

What is a VPC mod?

Variable Power Curve (VPC) is an advanced function or mode option on some mods. This mode enables the user to customize different power levels (wattage) in set increments, providing a power curve over a puff duration (time).

How many seconds does a 20W coil cut off?

This wattage will remain constant until you release the fire button or the timer cut-off is activated, normally a 10 second cut-off.

How to prevent dry hits?

Reducing the wattage after an initial higher power ramp up can also help in preventing dry hits. This in turn will also help in providing cooler vapor.

How long does a mod fire?

Mods will have a safety cut-off of 10 seconds, sometimes adjustable, to prevent prolonged firing. If we break down the 10 second fire cycle into 1 second steps, we can set the variable power curve steps for each second of vaping.

Does a coil stay hot?

Once it’s been heated at the initial high power, the coil will remain hot, meaning only a lower wattage is required to maintain that same temperature.

What is curve mode on a vape?

Curve Mode is a set choreographed performance of the output value. Set somewhere between variable wattage and temperature control, curve mode allows for wattage outputs to be preset, mapped, and guided by the user. For example, some vapers may like the coil to initially hit hard, firing at 50W for the first second, dropping to 45W after half a second and then a further drop to 40W after another half second for a smoother finish. This gives a personalized feel to output, allowing the user to set a preference to how they take a draw of the vape, resulting in a less harsh or stronger output depending on the mapped settings. An example of Curve Mode cann be found in the Innokin MVP5 AJAX Box Mod.

What is temperature control on a vape?

Temperature control has been offered for vapes for some time, but many of us rely on simple wattage or voltage adjustments for our vaping outputs. Working in conjunction with nickel, titanium, and stainless steel wires, temperature control is technically a temperature limiting mode, checking the resistance of the wire and adjusting or cutting off the delivery of electricity to the heating element to ensure the temperature does not exceed the temperature value set. This allows the mod to prevent excessive temperatures that would otherwise cause the cotton to burn while ensuring that only eJuice is vaporized. The output is carefully calculated and adjusted to maintain the temperature of the coil. Temperature Control can be found on many vapes, with the Snowwolf Zephyr and the Uwell Nunchaku Kits being a great example of an easy to use TC Mode.

What is super player mode?

Technically not a temperature controlling mode, Super Player Mode is offered by Vaporesso products with the OMNI Board 4.0 chipset, granting the box mod a lower or higher operating resistance range, suitable for those that like to build their own coils or like extreme sub-ohm vaping. Careful consideration should be given, especially when vaping below the lower end of the resistance range, ensuring the batteries are within safe operating limits and conditions. Some box mods that are equipped with the Omni Board 4.0 Chipset are the Vaporesso Luxe & Luxe-S Starter Kits.

What wires can be used in TCR mode?

KA wire does not reliably change, therefore, TCR Mode should only be used with consistent nickel, titanium, or stainless steel wire compositions for reliable and accurate performance. A prime example of TCR Mode can be found on the Geek Vape Aegis Legend Box Mod.

What is TCR mode?

The TCR Mode setting assigns a value to each type of wire composition and adjusts the power supplied to ensure the temperature coefficient does not exceed the preset value.

How does pulse mode work?

Pulse Mode works by constantly cutting off and sending current to the coil repeatedly to control the output of the vape. Intelligent chipsets within allow for this, as they can constantly adjust the input power multiple times within a second. This ensures the coil never heats past a set value, instead pulsing the coil to control the output. Similar to curve mode, but is not choreographed or mapped. The Vaporesso GEN Starter Kit is a great example of an easy to use Pulse Mode.

What is bypass mode?

Bypass mode is, by far, the simplest of advanced vaping modes. Removing wattage and voltage output, Bypass Mode allows the user to utilize the mod like a mechanical mod, designating output to correlate with the level of charge within the battery. Users can utilize the mod like a mechanical mod, without losing any protections or safeties that make modern vaping safer than the early days of vaping. One example of Bypass Mode can be found on the SMOK MAG 225W Starter Kit.

How to lock atomizer resistance?

Lock Atomizer Resistance: Make sure mod is powered on, and you have a tank attached, then, hold down UP and DOWN keys simultaneously to lock the atomizer’s resistance.

What is escribe DNA mod?

Escribe is where things get a little fancy! Basically, using this software on your PC, you can customize ALL kinds of settings on your DNA mod.

What does TCR stand for in vapes?

What is Vape TCR Mode? Vape TCR stands for Temperature Coefficient of Resistance. Wellon Vape experts told Olivia that it’s basically a number that describes how the resistance of metal in our coils changes as it changes temperature.

Why is less resistance better for coils?

Less resistance translates into more heat, faster. The type of alloy used in the coil determines the relationship between the resistance and potential heat. Different TCR values must be assigned for different types of coils. This is mainly to keep you and your device safe.

Does temperature control work on vaping?

Temperature control in vaping devices doesn’t actually measure the heat of the coils, but how easily electricity passes through the metal. That’s why when coils go dry and get warmer, the TC controls kick in.

What is temperature control vaping?

Temperature control vaping can be an amazing experience. It provides the security of consistency that wattage vaping often lacks. No one likes dry or burnt hits, or vapes that get too hot with long hits. TC vaping solves that.

Why is my vape consistent?

Vape consistency: By having control over the temperature your coils can rise to, the vape will be consistent from puff to puff, and even within one puff. In regular wattage mode, the hits are more inconsistent because the heat of the coil changes based on the length of the hit.

What is TC in vape mods?

Temperature control (TC) in vape mods is a technological solution for dry and burnt hits. It also creates a consistent vape while taking longer drags because the temp stays the same—instead of getting hotter. The user chooses the temperature limit, typically from a range of 300°F to 600°F (100°C to 315°C). The power sent to the coil then automatically adjusts to keep the coil—and your vape—at the chosen temperature.

What is the best wire for vaping?

TC vaping generally uses one of these four types of vape wires: 1 Stainless steel: this wire is very popular and readily available. It comes in various grades such as 304, 316, 316L, 317, and 430 but the most common is SS316L. SS can be used in wattage or temperature control mode. 2 Nickel 200: commonly known as ni200, it was the first temperature control coil but it’s less common now due to some vapers having sensitivities to nickel. 3 Titanium Grade 1: otherwise known as Ti. It works well in TC but the user has to make sure it does not get overheated. 4 Nickel ferrous: also known as NiFe, comes in various grades such as 48, 30, 52, 70 and can be used in either mode, but is not widely available.

How to fix dryness in vape?

When vaping in TC, if you do notice any dryness when you’re low on juice, adjust the temperature down. If your mod has wattage control in TC, you can adjust that too. Higher is usually fine, but don’t go too low; as mentioned earlier, your mod should limit your wattage when the set temp is reached, but it won’t compensate when the wattage is set too low.

What type of wire do you use for vaping?

Next, you must vape with the right wire type. TC vaping generally uses one of these four types of vape wires: Stainless steel: this wire is very popular and readily available. It comes in various grades such as 304, 316, 316L, 317, and 430 but the most common is SS316L. SS can be used in wattage or temperature control mode.

How does TC vaping work?

For TC vaping, you’ll use wires that have a known resistance-increase as their temperature rises. The mod checks the resistance of the coil at room temperature, then it continues to monitor it as you vape. The resistance change is converted into a temperature increase and the mod adjusts its power to maintain the selected temperature. Think of it as a car traveling in cruise control. To maintain a speed, more power is needed to go up a hill than down a hill… but the speed would stay the same.

How many vape modes are there?

Four vape modes are worth examining before moving on to discuss what is bypass mode on vape. These are:

What metals are used in vape coils?

For this to work, your coil needs to be made of stainless steel, titanium, or nickel. You’ll do the same as you did in the wattage mode, except you’ll pick a temperature too.

What is bypass mode?

If you’ve ever searched for the sentence ‘what is bypass mode vape’, then here is your answer. Bypass modes are a great way to remove wattage from the equation. In bypass mode, the vape bypasses the wattage.

Is vaping easy?

Vaping isn’t quite as simple as picking your juice, putting it into the tank, and vaporizing it. There are other factors to consider. One of these is vape modes. There is a range of these, and we think it helps to briefly cover each one first. We’ll then look in a little more detail at what is bypass mode vape, before covering 5 of the best vapes that have a bypass mode.

Most people use regular power mode or TC mode and I am just curious how many people tried to use VPC mode on Aegis. I tried it today and I like it very much. Am I alone? There is very little info about this mode and I am not sure if any other vaping device offer this mode.

For those curious VPC is the manual curve mode. Sort of like a hand made replay. I’ve got an ageis, but messing with the curve function simply seemed too complicated to me. Some people really like the curve function though. It’s just a bit of a pain getting the curve where you want it.

I don't have that mod, but I have other mods with power curves. I have used them on occasion, usually to give myself something of a "primer heat up" puff or two, and etc. They can be handy, and I definitely notice a difference, even on some non- DNA mods I use like the steampunk.
