The Famovape Magma mod is the latest mod from manufacturer Famovape. They are a pretty small and new company with not a lot of products to date. I’ve actually reviewed a couple of them in the past, the Yup RDA and the Fat Baby Mesh tank. Outside of that the only other products they have made is a mod called the Bit Box, and the Fat Baby Mesh kit.
First impressions
When I first got this mod, I liked the design a lot. I’m going to make a comparison that I’ll make a lot throughout this review, but it reminded me a lot of the Voopoo Drag 2 mod. It looks and feels very similar to it. One thing they state on the box is that it’s the smallest dual-battery mod on the market.
Build quality and design
The Famovape Magma Mod is a mostly nicely built and designed mod. It reminds me a lot of the Voopoo Drag 2 in its shape and style and is quite comfortable to hold in the hand. It’s a simple rounded off rectangle-shaped mod with a front facing screen.
Features and functions
The Famovape Magma has most of the modes we see on mods these days. You have Power mode (watts), Bypass Mode, and Temp control mode for Ni200, Ti, and SS. No TCR mode, but the TCR is adjustable in each of the preset modes.
Power mode performance
Testing on this mod was done with Sony VTC5A Batteries. They list the specs at 200 watts, 7.5 volts and 40 amps. I couldn’t find these on their site, but they list all three in the manual so that’s great. During my testing, the max achieved wattage was 199, so excellent rating at 200 watts.
Verdict
Famovape did a great job with this mod. There are a few minor cons on it, but overall, it’s a small affordable mod that looks and performs great. I know I compared this a lot to the Drag 2 and for good reason. For all intents and purposes, this is a better version of the Drag 2 and really the mod Voopoo should have made.
