The cell with a nub on the positive terminal is called a button top, and the battery without a positive nub is called a flat top. And this is the thing that gets people confused about the positive and negative sides. When there is a button top on the positive side, it gets easier for the consumers to identify the negative and positive sides.

The most important things to be able to recognise on a vape battery are the positive and negative terminals. This is really easy to do: the negative end is always completely flat, and the positive end has a little button on top or a smaller raised terminal, with an inset ring in the body just below it.

What is the name of the battery with a nub on the positive terminal?

The 18650 batteries are the cylindrical cells, and all the cells are constructed with a basic design. Typically, they have a positive terminal nub on one side and a flat terminal at the other end. The cell with a nub on the positive terminal is called a button top, and the battery without a positive nub is called a flat top.

What is the nub of an 18650 battery?

The nub in the cell will provide pressure to the negative flat side. It is advised that when you are inserting the 18650 cells in a device, you should confirm that right cells are used. These batteries are similar to AAA batteries. As a result, the consumers confuse them both and use them interchangeably.

What is the negative side of an 18650 battery?

They provide nominally 3.7 volts of power, 4.2 volts when fully charged and slowly discharge when used. Once the vape battery is discharged below approx 3 volts, they must be charged again.

What is the circuit board on a vape battery?

Batteries have a small circuit board, usually on the bottom of the vape battery, that stops the charging or discharge of the battery in certain circumstances, such as Over-Charge, Over-Discharge and Short-Circuit. These tend to be slightly longer because of the circuitry and are normally classed as ICR.

What is the difference between a mechanical and regulated mod?

Kind of a dumb question.... Just started Saturday getting into the rebuild-able atomizers and mech mods. Went into my local vape shop and chatted with them for awhile. Got set up with everything to build and built my first coil that day. It turned out okay, higher ohm than I wanted, which brings me to my actual question.

The center pin is positive and the outer posts are negative. Honestly it doesn't really matter unless you are going for some fancy builds. As long as a coil is hooked up to positive and negative you should be fine. Parallel coils are a little bit trickier as you want to build them at twice the ohm value as your target (for dual coils ).

Okay cool. The build I have on there now is working, just not as well as I had hoped. Going to either try another macro or possibly a sleeper, I like the idea of having one wire for both coils. Seems like you would have a more consistent current which would mean a more consistent vape.

normally the post that has the insulator at the base of it is the positive post. This is also considering that the battery is inserted + end into the mod so it ends up with the + end of the battery at the top of the mod...

If making dual coils, test each one separately to make sure the have the same resistance (at 2x your target value, as noted above). Don't go by "final", parallel, reading of both.

Oh and since you are using a mech if you put the battery in upside down the outer posts will be positive and the center will be negative. nyuk nyuk nyuk.
