Why won't my e-cigarette fire?

The most obvious problems that could lead to your e-cig not firing are that your device isn’t switched on, that your battery isn’t charged or that your wattage setting is too low. Most devices switch on with three or five quick presses of the fire button, so try that first – usually an LED will flash or the screen will activate so you can see when it’s switched on. If this doesn’t work, the battery could be depleted, so try plugging your device into a charger (for mods with on-board charging or in-built batteries) or removing the battery and charging it separately (for devices with removable batteries).

First Things First

There are different types of 510 connectors. You have spring-loaded 510’s, static (or pressure fitted) 510’s. and screw-head 510’s on the male side of the equation, and spring-loaded or static 510’s on the female side.

Step 1. Make Sure Everything Is Clean

Any grime on the connection points or inside the threads could cause a problem. Everything can get nasty over time, grit and dirt can get down inside the hole, e-liquid can build up in there if you are a chronic over dripper ( like me ), and the dirt can either prevent a solid contact or create a short between the positive and negative terminal.

Step 2. Does Everything Meet In The Middle?

We have to make sure that we are getting a solid connection between the male and female halves of our system as one of our most common problems is a short positive on the male 510.

Step 3. Are The Insulators In Good Working Order

Wear and tear is inevitable. We put these machines through hell on a daily basis, drown then in e-liquid, heat them up to crazy temperatures and just expect them to carry on regardless. Over time the insulators between the connection point may get thin or wear out completely (especially on adjustable 510’s), which could cause a short.

You have a connection issue, likely with the mod if your tank works on other mods. Are you certain that the mod worked from the person before with that tank? Some tanks/mods are more finicky than others when it comes to connection, but if it is merely spinning, that sort of sounds like the mod to me.

Sounds like you may have some stripped threads or something with the 510 connector on the mod. or the threads on the 510 of the tank.

SteveS45 Moved On ECF Veteran

Post some pictures to try and help because you should be able to see stripped threads easy enough but it sounds like the 510 connector is loose in the MOD.

If it just spins now, it's broken . Take some pics, maybe we can figure it out better...mini volt is kind of cheap imo , tried one once and it lasted a few months and wouldn't fire anymore. Probably stripped....

You might resurrect it by using an ego/510 adapter or 510 heat sink. These sometimes do a better job of catching on janky threads. They go between the mod and the tank and destroy the aesthetics, but they can work.

I just got a mini volt v3 40w kit by council of vapor with a smok spirals tank, the tank doesn’t sit tight on the mod, it just spins and says no atomizer no matter what I do. It worked for the person I got it from less that 24h ago so I don’t know what happened or why it’s not working for me.

I'd try lifting the post on the battery to make better contact first. Then, wrap some plumbers tape or tissue on the threads of the tank to get some grip.
