When you're re-wicking, you need to dry burn your coil to get the burnt-on stuff off. Take the old wick out of the coil, screw the deck into your mod, and pulse the fire button a few times until the residue gets burnt off and the coil glows. You can then run the coil under a trickle of water, but that step is optional.

How to wrap vape coils?

For more info, watch Rip Trippers tutorial on how to build a parallel coil by hand. For even better results you can use a coil jig: just wrap the first coil using the jig’s guide, and manually wrap the second coil in between the gaps. Wrapping vape coils can appear to be much more difficult than it really is.

Why rebuild your vape coils?

Rebuilding and wrapping coils offer the user cost savings and control over the vape in a way that pre-made coils just cannot do. My first attempt at vaping came back in 2009 on some of the first cigalikes to ever reach Europe.

Do dual-coil vape coils work better?

When doing a dual coil build, it’s essential for both coils to be identical in size and form, to ensure that they heat up properly. Dual-coil builds obviously create more vapor than a single coil of the same specs, but require double the power to perform. With two identical coils, the resistance should be exactly one half of each coil’s resistance.

How to Prime a new vape coil?

To prime a new vape coil, follow these steps. Remove the coil from the package. Use a bottle of e-liquid to wet the wick holes on the sides of the coil. You can do this by squeezing the bottle gently while brushing the bottle’s nozzle against the wick holes, almost as if you’re “painting” the e-liquid on the holes.

Why is it hard to pull on my vape?

Why do I have to pull so hard on my vape? Chances are, if you're pulling hard on your vape pen it's because you've been pulling too hard in the past and you've flooded the tank. Drawing hard when you vape causes the wicks to absorb more concentrate than the coil can vaporize.

What does closing the airflow on a vape do?

If your airflow is closed ('narrow' or 'tight'), then your evaporated e-liquid, which is 'hot off the coil', won't have a chance to mix with much room-temperature air, so you'll get a hot, dense, tasty cloud of vapour.

What coil setting should my vape be on?

For 2-ohm coils, the ideal voltage falls between the ballpark of 3.3 to 4.0 volts. Higher ohm (aka higher resistance) coils allow for a higher voltage. They also tend to produce less vapour and at a cooler temperature. With this in mind, it's upon you to find out what works best for your palate.

How long should you pull on a vape?

The general rule is to wait 15 to 30 seconds before puffing again. For people who are trying to quit smoking, 30 seconds can be a long wait.

Why do disposable vapes hit better?

The second reason is that disposable vapes come with nicotine salts. These make the vapes more flavorful than regular vapes do. In this guide, you'll learn more about the flavors available with disposable vape devices and which flavors are the best when trying these disposables.

How do I make my vape smoke thicker?

Get the Right PG:VG Ratio As a general rule of thumb, an e-liquid that has a higher ratio of VG to PG will produce thicker vape clouds whereas an e-liquid with a higher ratio of PG to VG will deliver a harsher throat 'hit'. Some e-liquids are available with 100% VG.

Why does my vape crackle and spit?

Trying to vape with the power too low is what causes excess e-liquid to build up in the coil head, resulting in it spitting hot vape juice. To clear the coil try turning the power up or flicking the device downward to remove the built-up liquid.

Does more airflow mean bigger clouds?

Increasing airflow (to an extent) means more fresh air to cool vapor temperature; this not only gives you added cooling capacity making it more comfortable to inhale, but it also increases the size of your cloud.

What temp and wattage should I vape at?

Many people agree that 420 degrees Fahrenheit or 216 degrees Celsius is the sweet spot. You get as much flavor as possible without feeling the warmth of the vapor. If you want to add even more flavor, try a temperature between 425 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit or 218 and 232 degrees Celsius.

At what wattage should I vape?

On the contrary, even 10 watts is sufficient to guarantee a satisfying vape, which may be ideal for new vapers. As you become more experienced, it's safe to say that vaping starts to shine between the range of 40 and 50 watts.

What wattage gives the best flavor?

The sweet spot for getting a balance of vapour and flavour is around 0.3ohms. Depending on your coil choice you'll want to up the wattage from anywhere between 50 and 100 watts. Clapton and Alien coils usually take a bit more power to ramp up so you'll want to boost the wattage if you're using either of these options.

A lot of the how often for each is going to depend on a number of things, like the gauge of your wire, the wattage you vape at and the kind of juice you run. Also a big one on how often to rewick is what you wick with. I have a v1 subtank mini and rba I run it with 26 gauge SS at about 0.65 ohm at 25w and 380F.

I vape NETs too. Rayon for wicking. I highly recommend rayon over anything else to wick with. I rewick every couple days, maybe sooner if im getting weak/off flavor. A coil lasts close to a month before I feel its time to rebuild, but this seems to vary depending on the person.

One other thing to look out for as a sign of when to recoil is when you notice the resistance changes more than a few hundredths of an ohm (room temperature coils), Example if you see it go from .3-.4 or .5 there is a problem (getting old, grub screws loosening, could even be a dirt 510 contact though).

Another noob (to RBA) here. My Toptank mini should come in next week so I'm soaking up as much info as I can right now.

Yeah that's exactly what I have, and you're right, it's pretty easy to work with for a newbie like me. It's been only a couple of days really, but I vape NETs so it gunks up super fast.

How to save money on vaping?

One of the best ways to save money in vaping is to build your own coils. Rather than buying disposable coil heads every week, you can make your own. It’s a fun hobby that vapers not only take pride in, but get to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The way to get good at it is through practice. Although, it’s perfectly reasonable for first-time ...

How to build a coil for a RDA?

First, examine the deck and see if it is a dual or a single-coil atomizer. Then check the size of the deck and see how large your build can be—you don’t want your coils to touch the top cap as this will cause a sort.

How are micro and macro coils created?

Micro and macro coils are created by taking a single piece of wire and wrapping it around a screwdriver, drill bit, or coil jig. The difference between a micro and a macro coil is the inner diameter of the coil. It’s that simple.

What is macro coil?

Macro: a macro coil build is a coil that has an inner diameter that’s 2.5 mm and above. The bigger the inner diameter of the vape coil, the higher its resistance, and vice versa. Likewise, the thicker the gauge of wire used, the lower the resistance will be.

Why do you need to have two coils?

When doing a dual coil build, it’s essential for both coils to be identical in size and form, to ensure that they heat up properly. Dual-coil builds obviously create more vapor than a single coil of the same specs, but require double the power to perform.

What do you use to pinch coils?

Wire: any of the vaping wires would do. Flush cutters: wire cutters that can cut close in small spaces. Ceramic tweezers: to pinch your coils while pulsing. Fine tip tweezers: to fluff your cotton and place it inside the wick ports. Small metal rod: a small screwdriver, or coiling tool.

What is a parallel coil?

In essence, a parallel coil is made out of two or more wires wrapped next to each other. Resistance is divided by the number of wire strands, so make sure you are aware of your device’s limits when building parallel coils. For beginners, a dual parallel 26-gauge Kanthal coil would be a nice starting point.
