Modern coils will most often have an advised power level printed on them, usually recorded in Watts (W), for example, 40 - 55W. If you stay between this range you’ll have a far better vaping experience. It may be the case that you don’t exactly know which power to use.

There's something called Ohm's Lawthat determines the compatibility of a coil to the output levels of a device as well as the voltage of the battery that's being used. To put it plainly, the higher the wattage level, the lower the resistance level your coil should be.Sep 18, 2019

Broken down it’s the measure of how much resistance that a conductive material, in this case, the metal in a coil, has to the current that is applied to is and thus how hot the metal gets when the current runs through it. In short, the lower the Ohm the less resistance and the higher the heat created.

What is the most popular coil?

Clapton wires are the most popular coils as it is used in popular sub-ohm coils. These coils have a measurement of less than one ohm of resistance. How does an atomizer head work?

An atomizer head converts energy from the e-cig battery and heats the coil inside, this then vaporises e-liquid that is soaked into the wicking material, which is then inhaled by you.

Do you need to worry about Ohm's law?

If you vape a regulated e-cig, for example an arc 5 or Optimus, you do not need to worry about Ohm’s law as the device sorts this for you. If you use an unregulated e-cig, such as a mechanical mod then you need to be aware of Ohm’s law and battery safety.

The way to determine the metal of your coil is off the box the coils came in. If not metal type is specified (Ni, SS), it's almost certainly Kanthal which is used in wattage/power mode only. Obviously, if you make your own coils you'll know exactly what's in there.
