Does anyone on here only "puff" their vapor? Or, intentionally not take the vapor into their lungs? Especially curious about those that did inhale their analogs before, but are getting their nic fix from only taking the vapor into their mouth without inhaling.

GoochMan Senior Member ECF Veteran

I'm really new at this only about 10 days myself. But I've been experimenting with that and it seems to work not inhaling into my lungs. I could be wrong but it feels like I am absorbing the nicotine through the back of my nose. I am taking a puff then slowly pulling it up and exhaling through my nose. But again I.

spaceballsrules Ultra Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

When my grandmother smoked analogs, she would take the smoke in her mouth and exhale through her nose without ever taking the smoke into her lungs. I am sure some vapers do this. I have seen pbusardo do it in some of his videos, but he also inhales the vaper into his lungs.

Beans Ultra Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

Yep, nic absorbes through your mucus membranes. I inhale because I love the feeling, but it's not necessary to get your fix.

As others here have said some vapers, if they need a strong hit, will "french" inhale- take vapor from mouth, softly exhale and suck up the vapor thru the nose where there are many surface blood vessels to absorb the nic.

Hello again, everyone. My question is actually for my ex-husband. He's 32 and has been smoking 1-2 packs/day Marlboro Reds over 20 years.

Baditude ECF Guru ECF Veteran

This situation sounds a little complicated. Are you certain that his e-cigs are functioning? Have you tried using them yourself to confirm they are making vapor? I just can't imagine that he's taking a big puff and not exhaling any vapor at all. Could he be faking?

jcco Super Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

I don't know what the problem is. Like Baditude say's, try it yourself to confirm it's working. Just take it in your mouth & don't inhale it, That should produce vapor.

Baditude ECF Guru ECF Veteran

If the vapor is making him cough, you DON'T want to increase the nicotine strength. Rather lower it.

Baditude ECF Guru ECF Veteran

Your'e probably not gonna like this, but im gonna say it anyway...Pardon me for being so direct but, Are you sure he really is trying? maybe he is just making this "it burns i cough" stuff to get you off his back?

Elizabeth Baldwin Vaping Master Verified Member ECF Veteran

It honestly sounds like he just doesn't want to give up his smokes and is making a cough and not actually sucking the vapor in in the first place. Because I've never heard of vapor not coming out if you suck it in, unless he's holding it in for over a minute or longer...then it would dissipate the vapor and nothing would come out.

Just got my Vamo V5 running and using the atomizer that came with the Protank Mini @ 2.2omh ( https://www.fasttech.com/products/1423304 , it says 2.5omh but its reading at 2.2omh on my Vamo). Vaping on 50PG/50VG 12mg MBV juice and its giving me the cough whenever I vape.

unrl Full Member

Yeah actually just got off for a day. I realize when I inhale after holding it in my mouth, it feels really harsh. Maybe not used to it yet but hopefully won't take long because it really annoying lol. Its like I inhale, cough, try again after drinking some water, cough harder lol.

SchmidtyKy Ultra Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

You may be sensitive to PG or VG. Many are sensitive to PG....but I am one of the rare few that can't handle too much VG. I found a juice that I like that uses 60%PG and 40% VG....but I can't use it for too long at a time because it starts hurting my throat. My other juices come from a vendor (MtBakerVapor) that allows you to customize the ratios.

DSullivan Senior Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

I find that juice high in VG gives more vap cloud and allows flavor to come through more, but is also harsher and can cause coughing. The PG seems to mellow out the VG. Finding the right mix for you takes trial and error. I am starting to lean toward a 50/50 mix. Not sure yet if nic level affects me in that way.

unrl Full Member

Thanks Rikajho, I've read through that and understand fully. What frustrates me is that even with less dragging, the vapor still makes me choke. I may need to change the nic content and the pg/vg to see what really suits me, problem over here in NZ is that there's really no physical store for testing which sucks.

unrl Full Member

Yeah was thinking of the coil as well. There's really so many areas that there can be a fault or at least doesn't suit me, finding out the right mix will be costly as well but definitely cheaper than going on analogs. Will be changing coils tonight, will post back.

I have absolutely no problems inhaling and exhaling any cigarette, cigar, or other smokable material.

AzPlumber Vaping Master Verified Member ECF Veteran

Some folks have a harder time adjusting to vapor but once their body gets used to it there's no problem. The trick is slowly introducing the vapor over time until you adjust. This can be done by taking the vapor in your mouth and hold it a few seconds before slowly inhaling just a bit at first and over time increasing the amount.

Garry1 Full Member

Hi Arel3 time to yelp a good vape shop in your area find someone that really knows how to build all kinds of attys. It might cost about 5 - 10 bucks but explain the problem. I wish you lived in los angeles cuz i can probabpy solve the problem but im sure there a millions with the expertize you need.

Welcome, I'm just as new as you. But I will tell you what worked for me and I can't explain why.

Warpigs Vaping Master ECF Veteran

When I started vaping I used to cough too. I was like huh? This is supposed to be better than smokes. It's just something you have to get used to. Start with small hits and work your way up. You will get to the point were you won't cough anymore. On the otherhand it's also possible that you may be allergic to 1 or more juices.

salemgold ECF Guru Verified Member ECF Veteran

Try a higher resistance IMO It could be too much heat making you cough. Or did you mean that you do not like anything more than .8 ohms? Trying 1.5 -2.0 would be worth a shot IMO It may actually help you to stop coughing and be able to vape. Hit the button on your mod for a few seconds and then take a draw with the higher ohms.

Arel, I had a bit of a rough start when switching to vaping. I was smoking 2.5 packs of cigs per day, and I would cough when I took too big of a puff on my ecig. This was a Ego type battery with a bottom coil clearomizer set up. As a heavy smoker, my lungs were accustomed to the smoke, but the vapor seemed to cause a cough reaction.

Maylar Senior Member ECF Veteran

Hi folks - New member Dave from CT here. I just received my first ecig kit in the mail, a starter kit of eGo-T.

I have the same problem. What makes it worse for me is 100% Vegetable Glycerin (VG) Juices, for some people its the Propylene Glycol (PG) , But what I also noticed was the way I vaped, I tried like I do regular cigarettes, and I found out that is the wrong way.

VapRLady Senior Member ECF Veteran

I would also recommend getting to a Vaping Store in your area that allows samples and has custom VG/PG mixes, this was a Godsend for me, they found I did well on 33PG/70VG, The PG makes me cough but the VG overwhelms my mouth and dulls my senses, this combo worked for me, also you may be at too high of a nicotine too.

LOL I remember the first time i hit my ego I thought I was going to die from coughing so learned to take smaller shorting puffs at first now I love long high volt hits on my evic. Just takes getting use to

I vape 24mg juice and there are still (after three years) juices that irritate my throat and make me cough. As an experiment you might try 80/20 pg/vg, 50/50, and 30/70 pg/vg just to see how you react.

I have vaped for a long time but only recently have discovered that exhaling through the nose really works. I now make sure to exhale through my nose even though the smell/taste makes me dislike some of my favorite e-liquids.

Can vaping cause allergies?
