How much nicotine should I use in my vape coils?

Oct 16, 2021 · Choosing the right nicotine strength for your needs should always begin with examining the vapor production of your hardware. If you use a small device, you need to use a stronger e-liquid to compensate for the fact that your hardware produces smaller vapor clouds. Nicotine salt e-liquid is usually the best choice for smaller vaping devices.

What should I look for in a good vape juice?

Coils of 1.5 ohm - 2.5 ohm (Ω) If you're just getting to grips with vaping, start with an 70% or 80% PG eliquid because this thinner liquid blend is ideal for these coils. It will allow for more discreet vaping as it produces less vapour, and it's usually the cheapest. You can also use thicker 50% PG eliquid which will give you more vapour ...

Should you buy thicker VG eliquids for sub ohm coils?

What juice is best for 0.8 ohm coil?

For 0.8/0.6Ω coils start with 60% VG or 70% VG and use that as a guide. For 0.5Ω coils start with 70% VG and use that as a guide. Just try a small amount until you know how your coil/device is performing with your particular juice flavour/blend.Feb 3, 2022

How do I choose e juice?

How Do I Decide the Right Nicotine Strength For Me? As a general rule, consider choosing an e-liquid with 3mg of nicotine if you only smoke one or two cigarettes a day, 6mg if you smoke under 10 per day and want a little bit of throat hit, 12mg if you smoke up to and above 20 a day and18mg if you are a heavier smoker.

What coil is best for 70/30 Juice?

Sub Ohm coils
As a general rule of thumb, Sub Ohm coils should only be used with E Liquids in a 70% VG to 30% PG mix since VG is much thicker than PG. The low power resistance allows for much higher temperatures to be used, meaning more E Liquid can be vaporized in one go.

What VG PG is best for coils?

70/30. This ratio is most commonly used in shortfill e-liquid and is much thicker than 50/50. This is due to the higher VG content. This e-liquid produces larger clouds of vapour and a quality flavour when paired with low resistance coils for Direct-Lung vaping.Jul 16, 2021

What juice is best for 0.4 ohm coil?

Coils of 0.4 ohm and lower

The amount of VG will usually need to be anything from 50% VG, and in some cases the user's preference is 100% VG. Remember, if you're not a sub ohm vaper, you may well be disappointed if you buy some of the more expensive thicker VG eliquids because they're designed for sub ohm coils.

In contrast, the 0.6ohm coils have a recommended wattage of 12-25 watts. They are therefore classed as restricted direct to lung (RDL) coils, offering less clouds but conserving your battery and e juice.

What is sub ohm vaping?

The 'ohm' is a measurement of resistance, and sub-ohming refers to vaping using a device with a resistance level lower than 1.0 ohms, as suppose to 1.5 ohm to 2.8 ohms used in regular vapes. Naturally, this impacts the vape tank. Most vape tanks geared toward sub-ohm vaping will be capable of using coils with a resistance of lower than 1.0 ohm, and they typically have much larger juice channels. Larger juice channels means more juice on the wick, which can produce huge, dense clouds (one of the perks of sub-ohm vaping for those who like to cloud chase). These tanks typically demand more power and liquid consumption.

What is mouth to lung vaping?

Mouth to lung is a vaping technique which you can learn more about here. It's one of the most common methods of vaping and one which will come most natural to those who have experience with cigarettes. Most MTL-geared tanks are designed with in mind, using factory built coils with a more restrictive juice flow and air flow. Because they usually offer a tighter draw, those with high nicotine preferences often use this style of tank. It's also perfectly suited for thinner, PG based juices due to the somewhat restricted airflow.

What is a MTL tank?

Is VG liquid better than PG?

VG tends to have a sweeter taste but generally delivers less of the ‘throat-hit’ than PG-based liquids. Users who like a thicker vapour may prefer VG-based liquids but ensure your kit is ok with VG, because tank-style kits with a coil head or atomizer head can to clog much faster on liquid with a high content of VG.

Why is it important to use cotton coils?

When you're using cotton coils, it's very important to ensure the coil is thoroughly saturated in e-liquid to avoid dry hits (to avoid the cotton inside the coil getting burnt). The burning releases unhealthy chemicals, a bit like burnt toast, and although different chemicals are produced/released, neither are considered good and should be avoided.

What are the ingredients in e-liquid?

The most common base ingredients in e-liquid are propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerine (VG). You will find that some e-cig manufacturers may use one or the other exclusively, while many manufacturers will use a combination of the two.

Is PG thinner than VG?

Because PG is thinner than VG, it is often the preferred e-liquid to be used with tank-style e-cigarettes. Examples of tank cigs are the eGo C, the Joyetech eCab, Kanger EVOD, etc - they all have a tank you fill with liquid and they work with an atomizer head or a coil head inside them.

Does PG have a sharper throat?

The higher PG liquids usually have a sharper throat hit. That ‘kick’ at the back of the throat is stronger in eliquids that have more PG than VG, although of course it depends on the nicotine strength you choose.

What are the components of a vape?

Before going there though, you need to know the three main components of any vaping device: Battery – The battery is, of course, the part of the vape that will be providing your power. Each vaping device may use a different type of battery or incorporate it in a different way. Mod – The mod is essentially the casing for your battery.

What is the atomizer on a vape?

What is coil in vape?

The coil is a component inside the atomizer. But as we know, the world of vape lingo is vast and when you say coils, we know what you mean. If your vape mod is the body, atomizer heads are the heart, a fundamental part of your vaping experience.

What are atomizer coils made of?

Most atomizer coils are made from Nichrome or Kanthal. But there are different wire types that some vapers use. Nickel, Titanium and Stainless Steel are also available, but less popular. These tend to be used for temperature control vaping and aren’t suited to all e-cigs. But that is for another time.

What is an atomizer head?

An atomizer head converts energy from the e-cig battery and heats the coil inside, this then vaporises e-liquid that is soaked into the wicking material, which is then inhaled by you. Phew. Ok let’s break atomizer heads down further. An atomizer head consists of three main parts:

How does an atomizer head work?

An atomizer head converts energy from the e-cig battery and heats the coil inside, this then vaporises e-liquid that is soaked into the wicking material, which is then inhaled by you.

Who came up with the formula for measuring electrical resistance?

Back in the 1800’s a German physicist ‘Georg Simon Ohm’ published his works regarding the physics of electricity. After lots of sciency things, he came up with a formula to calculate the measurement of electrical resistance.

What happens when you press a button?

When you press your button, it provides power to the coil. This then converts that energy to heat (If you could see your coils, they sometimes glow red when you are pressing your button), and vapourises e-liquid from the saturated wicking material.

I just have a quick question, I have been vaping for 3 years now after quitting smoking and so I have been fairly confident in my knowledge up until now.

I am MTL on 0.5 ohm coils. 80 watts is almost too much for me without temp control, 60 is perfect with 80vg/20pg 18mg juice. More pg means lower wattage Less nic means you can go a bit higher before it gets cough worthy harsh.

Just add that "safety" is about amps which is based on watts with APV's. Generally 60w per 20A battery, if it's an internal battery it simply won't let you do it if it can't. Ohms never tell you what watts range to use as its a factory coil you cant tell what AWG or how many wraps the wire is. Ex.
