One way to help your batteries last as long as possible is by giving them periodic rests instead of using them constantly. I frequently hear that charging replaceable batteries while still in the mod is a no no, but I'm curious to know why. I mean, how is it any different from charging a mod with a non replaceable battery?

MorpheusPA Ultra Member ECF Veteran

External chargers are usually better built, better ventilated for heat dissipation, and more exact. It's hard to beat the charge quality and safety of a good name brand like Nitecore, Xtar, Efest, and so on.

Thanks. I thought it might be something like that, which is why I still fight with the sleeve on my Cloupor Mini to change the battery. Just wanted to make sure because there are days when I'd rather just plug the damn thing in.

GeorgeS Ultra Member ECF Veteran

I look at it this way: if there is a USB charge port I'll use it. It may not charge as fast or in some cases (personally don't know of any) as fully as an external charger but I really don't care.

Charging to 4.10 volts rather than 4.20 is known to extend the life of batteries. You can't do that when charging on the mod unless you take a ruler to the charge indicator. Plus if the battery does develop a problem during charging, I would rather have it exposed to the air rather than contained in a mod.

glad for this post it was a good question..one i didnt ask myself. I have been charging mine usb in the mod..i dont even have an external charger guess ill be getting one now. Thanks everyone!

And I tend to trust a dedicated charger much more than "dime sized" convenience feature.

Can you charge a mag baby with a 2A charger?

Yes, though I’d prefer a 2A charger. Some recent mods charge at more than 1A, though the adverts don’t specify for the mag baby. If a charger can’t meet the current demand it should just take longer than necessary to charge the mod. If you’re new to vaping, I don’t consider this to be a good starter kit.

Can you charge a vape with a USB port?

Any mods or Vapes that require external batteries be put into it should NEVER be charged via USB. If you're referring to a stick vape, or a pod system then yes, charging in a USB port is perfectly fine. These products are intended for charging that way.
