How often should you change your vape coils?

As a general rule, most manufacturers recommend changing the coil after a week of use. If you solely use a vape device this will be seven days, however if you don’t vape that often, you may find that changing your coils every two weeks is sufficient enough.

How many watts (W) does a vape coil use?

Modern coils will most often have an advised power level printed on them, usually recorded in Watts (W), for example, 40 - 55W. If you stay between this range you’ll have a far better vaping experience.

How do vape coils work?

It is the coil that takes the power from your vape battery and turns it into heat, which is then used to turn e-liquid into vapour. Inside a standard coil model, you will find a length of coiled wire wrapped around an absorbent wick. The wire creates heat, while the wick absorbs the e-liquid held in your vape tank.

Why are rebuildable coils not recommended for new vapers?

Requiring more set-up and knowledge about vaping is one of the reasons that they are not recommended for new vapers. The other reason is that large vapour production takes some getting used to and is not necessarily something you’ll want to experience as a first time vaper. What Are Rebuildable Coils?

Do spaced coils give better flavor?

Noted benefits of spaced coils: In reality the flavour difference is extremely minimal and barely noticeable. I typically vape single wire coils, and have done back to back tests (same setup) with spaced/contact, and I never noticed much of a difference.

How many wraps should my coil be?

How many coil wraps do I need? This depends completely on what type of coil you're building, your target resistance and even how much flavor you want from your coil. We'd usually suggest sticking to around 6 wraps as this will give you a good cross sectional surface area with decent flavor.

How do I fix low resistance vape?

Low Resistance Dry burning is one way to get around this problem because it can raise the coil's resistance. Another thing to do is add wraps to the coil, which will increase the resistance high enough so that the mod fires. If using a factory coil, either a new coil or vape is needed.

How do you fix a vape that won't smoke?

Check your tank to make sure you have enough e-liquid. If your tank is completely full but you still have weak vapor, it is possible that your atomizer or coil has been flooded. If this happens, simply take your atomizer apart and clean it with a paper towel or gently blow through it to get the excess liquid out.

What is a spaced coil?

Space. When the spaced and contact coil is the same resistance, spaced coil has larger space and horizontal space then contact coil. So the compatibility for a vape tank may not as good as the compressed coil. It is even difficult to install a standard spaced coil into a on drippers with small space.

What is the best wattage for a 0.4 ohm coil?

For example, a 0.4-ohm mod may recommend a 23 - 28 watt setting, and a 0.8-ohm mod may recommend you use up to 35 watts. Some recommendations can go much higher (e.g., 200 watts). Sub-ohm devices work best when using a high VG vape liquid (e.g., a VG/PG ratio of 70/30).

What wattage should I vape at 0.20 ohm?

0.3 ohms - 40 watts to 90 watts. 0.2 ohm coils - 40 watts to 100 watts.

What wattage should I vape 0.15 ohm?

60-90 wattsIn contrast, the 0.15ohm dual mesh coils have a best recommended wattage of 60-90 watts. Both atomisers offer huge clouds and flavour production. Since these coils are sub ohm / direct to lung (DTL) in vaping style, they are recommended for use with higher VG e liquids.

1. Space

When the spaced and contact coil is the same resistance, spaced coil has larger space and horizontal space then contact coil. So the compatibility for a vape tank may not as good as the compressed coil. It is even difficult to install a standard spaced coil into a on drippers with small space.

2. Heating Speed

The heating speed of spaced coil is slower than contact coil due to the spacing. The two wraps in the middle of contact coils will heat up very quickly due to mutual heating. When heating the coil, the heat is diffused from the inner ring to the outside. In turn, contact coils heat faster and has strong power then spaced coils under the same power.

3. Difficulty to Build Coils

The spaced coil will be simpler to build. Only wind the heating wire on the Coil Winding Rod, squeeze it inward, and then stretch it. After repeating two or three times, a perfect spaced coil is built.

4. Resistance

The resistance of heating wire is only related to the length under the same material and specification. The resistance difference between spaced coil and contact coil is negligible.

5. Vapor Cloud

Because the heating speed of spaced coils is slower than contact coil under the same power, the vapor burst of speed is also slower. In order to produce denser vapor of spaced coil, you need to heat in higher power.

6. Spitback

Spit back is normal in vaping. Compared to contact coils, spaced coil will occur spitback more. Because spaced coils have larger spacing, it will splash out when heating. On the other side, the contact coils can block the spitback.

7. Flavor Chasing

No matter spaced coils or contact coils, the flavor depends on the e-juices and atomizers. Meanwhile, wattage and heating wire material also effect the flavors.

Assuming you have no shorts, they'll glow evenly. It's not a bad idea to pulse a bit to burn off any impurities though. Sometimes I pulse, sometimes I don't.

Its just habit to fire the coil to see hotspots and generally how it fires. Depending on the wire gauge some wire moves around a bit, change shape (32gauge and thinner) so after you fire the coil some picking and prauding to get the shape back again. There is no need to fire the coil red hot at any time, that just degrades the wire.

With dual coils, you also want to ensure that they heat up "evenly" as in, each at the same rate as the other.

I build spaced coils and yes I do glow and check every coil. I had never had a problem until recently. I had a SS 316L 26 ga coil that read the right resistance, had no touching points yet for some reason always heated from one side to the middle instead of the middle out.

It also depends on if you got 2 wires into the same set screw area. 2 legs in the same screw can cause issues, clapton for example the wraps can shift in the set screw area and cause fluctuations especially using SS and TC so you remove the wraps so just core wire exposed.

How does a vape coil work?

The two elements of the coil work in combination, with the wick supplying a steady source of e-liquid for the wire to heat into vapour.

How to prime a vape coil?

To prime a new coil; install it into the base of your tank, take your e-liquid bottle and drip a small amount of e-liquid onto the exposed cotton. Repeat this process around three times, then reassemble and fill your tank as normal. By priming a coil it allows e-liquid to soak into the wick faster, which means you don’t have to wait as long to start vaping.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT KINDS OF VAPE COIL?

Coils are broadly split into two categories: sub ohm and mouth to lung.

WHAT ARE COILS?

Vape coils are the replaceable element in vape kits and tanks. It is the coil that takes the power from your vape battery and turns it into heat, which is then used to turn e-liquid into vapour. Inside a standard coil model, you will find a length of coiled wire wrapped around an absorbent wick.

HOW DO I INSTALL MY COILS?

Setting up your coil correctly the first time will guarantee a better experience. Some kits will come with a coil already fitted, if this is the case it’s recommended to take the time to check that the coil is securely fitted inside the tank.

What is rebuildable coil?

Rebuildable coils have been created for the purpose of being used with rebuildable atomisers. They require a far greater knowledge to use safely, including knowledge of Ohm’s Law, battery safety and general vape knowledge. Rebuildable coils are the pinnacle of customisability, as they allow you to pick an exact resistance and use metals ...

What is a sub ohm coil?

Sub ohm coils, on the other hand, have been designed for creating large amounts of vapour. They get their name from their resistance, a sub ohm coil will always have a resistance less than 1.0 Ohm. This low resistance means they’ll accept a greater level of power and heat more e-liquid at a faster rate, this is why they produce larger amounts of vapour. They are also called DTL (Direct To Lung) coils because they allow you to adopt a direct to lung vaping style, wherein you inhale vapour straight into your lungs without holding it in your mouth first.

What is coil in vape?

The coil is a component inside the atomizer. But as we know, the world of vape lingo is vast and when you say coils, we know what you mean. If your vape mod is the body, atomizer heads are the heart, a fundamental part of your vaping experience.

What does it mean when a vape exhales?

This does mean that they will use much more e-liquid and their battery will drain quicker.

What are atomizer coils made of?

Most atomizer coils are made from Nichrome or Kanthal. But there are different wire types that some vapers use. Nickel, Titanium and Stainless Steel are also available, but less popular. These tend to be used for temperature control vaping and aren’t suited to all e-cigs. But that is for another time.

How does an atomizer head work?

An atomizer head converts energy from the e-cig battery and heats the coil inside, this then vaporises e-liquid that is soaked into the wicking material, which is then inhaled by you.

What is the resistance of an atomizer?

Well atomizer heads have an electrical resistance value measured in ohms (Ω). Depending on the amount of electrical resistance will depend on what ‘ohm’ your atomizer head is. Atomizer heads generally fall into two categories. High and low resistance.

What is the outer casing of an atomizer?

It is the outer casing which attaches directly to the base of the tank and provides electrical contact to the coil.

Do vapers use e-liquid?

Some vapers prefer an atomizer head that lasts a long time, doesn’t use much e-liquid through the day and they don’t look for larger clouds of vapour. Other vapers are satisfied exhaling large clouds of vapour and are happy topping up with juice more frequently. The best thing to do is experiment.

How do vape coils work?

Coils, which are sometimes referred to as atomisers, are the component of your vaping device that creates vapour.

What are the different types of coil?

MTL or “mouth-to-lung” coils are designed to replicate the experience of smoking a traditional cigarette. This means a tight draw and low power output. Generally, MTL coils are designed to be used with higher nicotine strength e-liquids, to further simulate the “throat hit” of a cigarette.
