In a CDC Clinician Outreach and Communication Activity statement that was updated on Aug. 16, the agency provided guidance for physicians during this outbreak, including a request to report all possible cases of unexplained vaping-associated pulmonary illness to their state and local health departments.
Vaping-Associated Pulmonary Illness Outbreak
On December 3, 2019, Alaska announced its first case of e-cigarette, or vaping, product use associated lung injury (EVALI). At this time, no other cases have been identified in the state.
