I don't think I've taken a coil setup to its absolute end of life yet but I do rewick and dry burn every few days (my favorite juices tend to gunk up pretty fast). Rebuild every 2-3 weeks. Could probably get more time than that out of them.

Kanthal or even SS, pull the old wick, rinse off the coil and base, gently dry burn to get rid of any crap on the coil, re-rinse, dry, rewick. I have Clapton coils going on over 3 months that are just peachy.
