Ease of Use
The Grashopper vaporizer is pretty simple to use. The mouthpiece screws on and off easily (if you clean it regularly) and the device turns on with a clicker at the top. You push it in, the lights turn red to show it is heating, after a few seconds they turn blue to indicate it is ready.
Grasshopper Heat Control
Adjusting the temperature setting on the Grasshopper is pretty easy. You just twist the top of the pen and the change is almost instant. This ease comes at a cost and is the first limitation created by the stealthy design that has become its signature. If you want precise temperatures, this isn’t the vape for you.

Personally I wouldn’t pack it as they do in the video (this is an official video from Hopper Labs too) as this is wasteful and looks a pain. I will explain what I do below.
Build Quality
This is where the Grasshopper is both excellent and poor. The device itself is a beautifully crafted piece of engineering. The stainless steel version that I have is solid, I have dropped it many times, taken it out into nature, to friends houses and to the pub, so far it hasn’t even been scratched. I have never used a case to protect it either.
Vapour Quality
Without doubt the best quality and the main reason you should purchase the Grasshopper vaporizer is the vapour. This is why Hopper Labs still have a devoted following despite the problems with failures.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning is pretty simple and should be carried out regularly. All you will need is a shot glass, cotton buds and Isopropyl alcohol.
Value for Money
When I got my Grasshopper (stainless steel version) it came in at $200 (£150) plus customs fees as I purchased from the US. I thought this was excellent value as it came with a lifetime warranty. Recently the cost has increased to around $225 (£170) for a stainless steel model on the official site.

Battery and Charging Time
The Grasshopper vape battery is different to most vaporizers. Unusually it is a battery that can be removed and swapped. This is great because it overcomes one of the few negatives which is how long the battery lasts. I find that 2 or 3 sessions is enough to completely drain the battery.
Packing and How to Use the Grasshopper Vape
The chamber is a little on the small side and is pretty fiddly to pack and empty. It works equally well with a loose pack and a firm pack which is a benefit of convection heating and something usually reserved for desktop vaporizers.
Grasshopper Temperature Control
There is a range of 130°C-210°C (266°F-410°F) but there is no way to have accurate control over this. To adjust the temperature you twist the head of the pen and there are four lines that indicate the level. Within each line is a change of 20°C (68°f) so, you can change the temperature but not as accurately as some may want.
Build Quality
The pen itself seems very well made and comes with a life time warranty. I am yet to experience any breakdowns and have used it everyday for the last two months, but a quick glance at any thread online about the product does show that many people have had to send their pen back for repairs and sometimes more than once.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Once emptied cleaning the inside of the device is pretty easy. All it takes is some cotton buds and some Isopropyl Alcohol. In a few minutes you can clean out the chamber of any resin build up. The more difficult part is cleaning the threads on the screws, as already mentioned herb matter can build up on the threads.
Value for Money
A standard stainless steel Grasshopper Vape pen will set you back $200, if you want to purchase it in Titanium then it will cost another $50.
