coughing and post nasal drip when switching from cigs to vape

by Nolan Hessel Published 2 years ago Updated 1 year ago

For smokers switching to vaping, there is often a period of adjustment where the cilia of the throat begin to regrow. The presence of vapor can cause a tickling sensation in the throat that causes coughing. Others who switch over often find themselves hacking up phlegm as their bodies begin to clear out the tar in their lungs.

Coughing while vaping is also not an uncommon phenomenon. According to a survey of 600 vapers, around 57% of them admitted to coughing the first time they used an e-cig. However, after acclimatising for roughly ten weeks, 92% of vapers no longer had a problem with coughing.

Have you tried an OTC allergy med just to see if it helps? It could very well be coincidence and you may have begun to develop nasal allergies that have nothing to do with vaping?

I had a nasal drip before vaping, and after 10 months vaping I still have a nasal drip. I don't have the sinus congestion or a burning chest or a smoker's cough anymore, so I'll take the nasal drip and be happy. Just throat clearing/light cough versus a burning, hacking, disgusting-weird-stuff-coughed-up cough.
