Why does my vape tank get hot?

There are two common reasons why a vape tank might get hot. The first reason is that the tank has a metal mouthpiece that directly touches the tank’s chimney or coil. Since metal conducts heat, the heat from the coil will travel to your lips if that’s the case.

Does your vape tank have a drip tip?

These days, it’s rare for vaping product manufacturers to give their tanks metal mouthpieces; metal is just too good at transferring heat. If you own a vape tank made more than a year or two ago, though, your tank may have a stainless steel drip tip.

What should I do if my vape is too hot?

If the vapour is too hot, instead of faulting the tank or the vape, you should check the wattage and airflow combination. High wattage gets the coil to be very hot, which in turn produces hot vapour. When you open the airflow, cool air from outside mixes with the vapour to cool it.

Why does my vape taste burnt?

When you chain vape, your atomizer will overheat and your vape will feel hot when you inhale. It’s a vaping style that could damage your coil and cause an irritating burnt taste too. To avoid this, allow for reasonable intervals in between your puffs so that the wick saturates itself again.

Why is my vape tank getting so hot?

By far the most common reason for a hot vape is that you've been vaping too frequently. Don't feel ashamed however, as it's likely that most vapers have been guilty of this on more than one occasion! To put it simply, chain-vaping causes the coil to get too hot without allowing it the time to cool down.

Will a vape explode if it gets too hot?

If a battery is to overheat, whether it is inside the vape or electronic cigarette device or on a charging device, it is able to create a chain reaction that can lead to leakage of a liquid that is superheated, explosion, or ignition.

How long does it take for your lungs to heal from vaping?

After one to nine months: clear and deeper breathing gradually returns; you have less coughing and shortness of breath; you regain the ability to cough productively instead of hacking, which cleans your lungs and reduce your risk of infection.

Why does my vape get hot?

7 Common Reasons Your Vape Gets Hot When You Inhale. 1. A Reduction in the Size of the Airflow Holes. Many sub-ohming devices have very wide holes that lead to the creation of large clouds of vapor. The problem with the holes being too large is that you will also end up inhaling plain air in the process.

Why is my RDA hot?

Sometimes though, a hot spot could be as a result of your coil touching your RDA’s inner wall. It will happen when you replace the top part of the RDA. This could also heat up your coil significantly and you will also notice a change in your coil’s resistance if your device comes with an in-built resistance meter.

What is chain vaping?

Chain vaping is when a vaper takes short, multiple puffs in short intervals. This prevents your wick from soaking up enough vape juice before your next puff, causing it to burn.

How to make a vape coil cool down?

First, make sure there is space in between your puffs to let your coil cool down to room temperature before you puff again. Second, go for a coil that has less metal mass yet still does the job right. 3. Chain Vaping. Chain vaping is when a vaper takes short, multiple puffs in short intervals.

What is vaping 2020?

June 24, 2020 by John. A vape is an electronic device that produces vapor which is inhaled by the vaper. It provides a great solution for people with nicotine and tobacco addiction. The vapor is produced when the battery supplies energy to the coil. In the process, some of that energy becomes heat.

Does a vape tank get hot?

Metal Mouthpiece in the Tank. Although it’s not common today, many manufacturers created tanks with a stainless steel drip tip design a few years back. Their metallic mouthpieces would get quite hot. If you have a vape tank from that time, you may experience a hot vape when you inhale.

Do you need a high wattage to heat up a coil?

When the coil you’re using is high in metal mass, you’ll need a high wattage to heat it up. However, the coil’s high mass makes it retain the heat for some time even when you’re no longer pressing the fire button.

What is temperature control in vaping?

Temperature control is a vaping technology whose time seems to have come and gone. While you could once expect to find at least one titanium or nickel coil available for any given tank, today it isn’t even a given that you’ll find a stainless steel coil for your tank since kanthal mesh is all the rage.

Why do coils have hot spots?

A hot spot is a section of a coil that glows much more brightly than the rest of the coil due to uneven spacing between the wraps of the coils.

Why is it important to eliminate hot spots before using a coil?

It’s important to eliminate hot spots before using a coil because a coil that heats unevenly will never give you a good vaping experience. It’ll always create hot, harsh vapor that doesn’ t taste right — and since it’ll quickly burn through the wick, things will only get worse from there.

What is the form factor of a sub ohm tank?

One thing worth noting is that many of the replacement drip tips that you’ll find today use the wide 810 form factor. Many older sub-ohm tanks use the narrow 510 form factor. If your tank’s mouthpiece is around the same size as a cigarette filter, it’s a 510 mouthpiece.

Which drip tip material is best for vaping?

Between the three popular drip tip materials, Ultem has the highest heat resistance and may be the best choice for extremely high-temperature vaping. For non-extreme sub-ohm vaping scenarios, though, any of the three materials work well.

Can a vape tank get hot?

If your tank has a metal mouthpiece that gets hot when you vape, you’ll want to swap it out for a plastic mouthpiece that doesn’t conduct heat to your lips.

Can you control temperature on a stainless steel coil?

Some older mods may not support temperature control mode with stainless steel coils. You can think of temperature control vaping as being more like “temperature limiting.”. You’ll set a maximum temperature for your coil as well as a “preheat wattage” that determines how quickly the coil heats up.

6. Adjust your airflow

Many of us love sumptuous clouds of vapour, but not when they’re raining fire upon our mouths!

Conclusion

Though it may seem like there are a lot of potential causes for a hot vape, in the majority of cases it’s a mixture between over-vaping and using too much power. It’s still best to nip this little issue in the bud however, and solve it as soon as you can.

Why is my vape so hot?

When you vape, the coils get hot. Usually, the temperatures get up to 3000 C or even higher. Manufacturers design these parts with insulation so you might not feel the heat at such high levels through the casing. But if you are having a problem with a hot vape, the coil is probably the main cause – especially is you are into chain vaping.

Why is my coil hot?

High wattage gets the coil to be very hot, which in turn produces hot vapour. When you open the airflow, cool air from outside mixes with the vapour to cool it. If the airflow is restricted, the vapour will be too hot. Solution. Adjust the airflow to let in more cool air to cool the vapour.

What happens if your wattage is too high?

High wattage/type of coil. If your wattage is too high, or you are using a complex coil tiger coil or a Clapton coil, you might have heat problems. These accessories are to be managed carefully. Though they have thermodynamics to cool them down, you can also try reducing the wattage.

Do Clapton coils burn hotter than standard coils?

For instance, Clapton coils tend to burn hotter than standard coils. The more complex a coil is, the more heat it will generate. And though this might be perfect for heavy smokers looking to blow large volumes of vapour, you need to be careful with their heat potentials. Solution.

Is VG more viscous than PG?

Generally, VG is more viscous than PG. Therefore, e-liquids with a higher percentage of VG (usually more than 70%), have problems wicking. On the other hand, some tanks have flow control. With this tech, the path between the wick and tank is closed or constricted, leading to insufficient juice flow. Solution.

Does a vape feel hot?

Eventually, the heat is bound to make it to the exterior. The heat will be concentrated at the base, and the body of the vape will feel warm as well. Also, the type of coil you are using can contribute to the problem. For instance, Clapton coils tend to burn hotter than standard coils.

If your batteries are not rated for that kind of wattage they may be getting overloaded due to the watt load. What type of batteries are you using?

anavidfan ECF Guru Verified Member ECF Veteran

Have you vaped at those wattages before? Im probably not the norm, but anything over 15 watts gives me that experience. What is the coils resistance you put in?

Topwater Elvis Vaping Master ECF Veteran

You have to move a lot of air through the tfv8 to help cool the coil & vapor. (DTL)

A 1 Ohm coil at around 15 watts should be perfect. I'm currently using a .90 Ohm coil at 20 watts in my Hadaly/VT Inbox mod. Love it!

In my experience vaping at higher Wattages doesn't satisfy my smoking cravings. Also, any tank I have tried gets hot when I take it over 55-ish Watts. I have to have some serious airflow to even attempt a good vape over 75 Watts.

sonicbomb Vaping Master Verified Member ECF Veteran

The more power you use, the more airflow you will need and the more efficient the wicking will need to be to keep up.

Bunnykiller ECF Guru Verified Member ECF Veteran

just because the coil sez its good for 120-180W does not mean its supposed to be used at that wattage... try 40W and see how it works..

Why is my vape so hot?
